Alright @favoritefandoms, Iâm your CSSV! Iâm so sorry Iâm posting this late! I really liked talking to you and getting to know you! It was great to make a new friend! I hope itâs worth the wait!
You mentioned you like AUâs so hereâs a Coffee Shop AU. You also said you like friends/enemies to lovers, so I did a frenemies to lovers story! I hope you like it and I hope you had a great Valentineâs Day! xx :DÂ
Every Saturday morning for the last year, Emma comes to the quaint coffee shop a few blocks away from her apartment building. Her days as a deputy keep her busy, but Saturday mornings are reserved for her chance to wind down and take a break. Enjoy her one hour of solitude away from work.
That is until the black-haired, blue-eyed nuisance started to show up.
Every time.
She still doesnât know his name, hasnât even spoken to him. The only form of acknowledgment is a nod and small smile when he walks through the door and sits at the table across from hers. (And the hint of mischief in his smile when it meets hers at the little game theyâre playing).
All she knows is he came sweeping in one day, with his cocky nature and flirty attitude (he hasnât flirted with her, but sheâs seen the way he acts with the other women fawning over him), disturbing her peace. He deliberately chooses to come at the same time and day sheâs there. She has thought about coming in at a different day to avoid him all together, but Emma Swan is not one step down, she was here first. This was her routine.
Plus, she found their little game too fun to stop.
She doesnât even know how, but somehow he managed to learn what she orders.
And thatâs when it begins.
The first time he walked in, she paid him no mind. Didnât even look at him. The second time, their eyes met when he sat at the table across from hers, but then she looked back down at the book she was reading.
The third time, she couldnât help it. Her eyes wandered up from her phone to sneak a glance at him. Then another. And another. Sheâd noticed how attractive he was the first moment heâd swaggered in, but this was the first time she allowed herself to really look at him.
Damn.
That disheveled black hair and those tight black pants. She could tell he had a strong, lean body by the way his shirt stretched between his shoulders.
Suddenly, Emma is aware she isnât just glancing  anymore when he looks up at her with those piercing blue eyes rimmed with eyeliner (that only makes him look hotter), a quirked eyebrow, and smug smirk on his face.
She looks down immediately and feels herself blush. Quickly, she grabs her things and makes a dash toward the exit.
The fourth time, Emma is making her way to her usual table when sheâs confused to find a cup already waiting for her. She looks up to find Mr. Smug Face had arrived before her, looking at her with an expectant look and a smile that makes her feel wary. She sits down and takes the cup, uncovering the lid. Itâs hot cocoa alright, the drink she orders every time, but itâs missing something.
The whipped cream and cinnamon.
How he knows her order is a mystery, but he knows about the whipped cream because heâd made a show of pointing out she had some on the side of her mouth last time before heâd caught her sneaking glances at him. (She doesnât know he only caught it because he was doing the same).
Her face must have shown all sorts of offended for not having the perfect addition to her drink because she can hear snickering. Looking up, she finds that heâs trying (and failing) to hold back his laughter.
Emma narrows her eyes at him. Two can play at this game. Emma was never one to back down from a challenge.
And thatâs how this back and forth started between them.
After his little stunt with her hot chocolate, the next time Emma makes sure to get there before him. She goes to the barista she always orders from and asks her if she remembers his order. She gives her a knowing smile, she doesnât know why, and tells her he usually orders a coffee with cream and sugar.
Perfect.
Emma orders a black coffee and after checking to see he was nowhere in sight, she goes to place it in his spot. Smiling triumphantly, Emma sits back and waits for him to show up.
He walks in a few minutes later and she canât help but admire his wind swept hair, the urge to brush it away from his eyes too strong.
As he takes a seat he spots her, then looks down at the cup in front of him. He raises an eyebrow in question, but she simply shrugs nonchalantly while smiling innocently. She can tell he doesnât believe her act, picking up his drink anyway and tentatively takes a sip.
His face scrunches up in distaste immediately from the bitter taste and she canât help the quiet giggles she isnât even trying to hide.
And this continues on for the next few weeks. Thereâs always something missing from her drink, and she responds in kind. Once he really took her by surprise and managed to hide in the kitchen until she came. She was a bit disappointed to find her table empty, but waved the feeling away. He wasnât important to her. She should be happy, now her Saturdays could go back to being peaceful.
She decided to order something other than her hot cocoa that day. She asked for a Frappuccino with caramel. The kind barista who always serves her hands her the drink and for some odd reason she looks like sheâs trying to hold back a laugh. Unfazed, Emma takes a sip and notices that something is missing. Her caramel. She hears a chuckle and turns around to find him standing behind his chair. All she can do is gape at him. How could he have known her order? And it was different this time!
Both of them know what to expect when they come into the shop, but both continue to show up.
Every time.Â
Itâs another Saturday morning and Emma walks with a light in her step, knowing sheâs going to see her⌠friend⌠enemy⌠frenemy? She doesnât even know what he is and suddenly she stops as she realizes something. She no longer sees him as the annoyance he once was. She now looks forward to their âmeetings.â She doesnât know what to think about it. Heâs handsome, she canât deny it. Itâs the first thing she noticed about him. But she doesnât know him. Should she ask him out? Simply talk to him and get to know him? Change the whole dynamic of how things are between them?
Emma bites her lip, contemplating her next move. She runs when sheâs scared, itâs what sheâs always done. Itâs what sheâs had to learn to do after growing up with no one to love her and the one time she thought someone did, he sent her to prison for his crimes.
Itâs whatâs protected her. But itâs also whatâs kept out love and pushed any potential friendships away. This is the first real âfriendâ sheâs made and although sheâs scared to break whatever it is they have going on hereâŚ
She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, making a decision. For once in her life sheâs going to be brave and not let her fear rule her. Sheâs not going to ask him out, she doesnât want to seem too forward or eager. But she does want to talk to him, to have an actual conversation in hopes of becoming friends at the very least.
She continues walking, making her way toward the shop in anticipation. Itâs packed with more people than usual. As Emma makes her way to her table she notices that although itâs empty, no one is sitting there because there are no chairs. She furrows her brows in confusion and looks around to find there are no other available spots, when a cough catches her attention. She meets the amused stare of her âfriend.â
Of course, the only other available chair is at his table. This time instead of a missing ingredient, itâs a missing chair. She rolls her eyes, but takes a seat.
Well this is convenient, she thinks since she wanted to sit down with him anyway and heâs just given her the perfect opportunity.
He perks up once sheâs seated since he probably thought she would decline his invitation. She smiles at him shyly and looks down, finding a hot cocoa waiting for her. When she looks at him, he just nods encouragingly and she tastes it, finding that itâs perfect and just the way she likes it. After giving him a questioning look, she takes another sip enjoying her drink.
He clears his throat, âI couldnât give you a drink you donât like on our tenth date. Itâs quite the milestone.â
Emma chokes on her hot cocoa for a moment. Once she can breathe she asks, âTenth date? Did I miss the first nine?â
âAye, your hot cocoa with no whipped cream and cinnamonâs the first, my greatly distasteful black coffeeâs the second, and well Iâm sure you remember the rest, lass,â he jokes.
His accent. It makes her want to swoon. Hold yourself together, Emma.
All humor disappears when he continues, âIn all seriousness, love, I was hoping to ask you out. To dinner, or something,â he mumbles shyly. Â
Itâs so different to see the man that oozed confidence, suddenly become this shy person whose cheeks have reddened. Heâs rubbing his finger behind his ear, a nervous tick sheâs sure.
âOh,â is all she says.
Honestly he caught her off guard. She came in here, finally brave enough to speak to him, hoping heâd at least be her friend. He must think sheâs not interested by the way his face falls so she quickly continues.
âItâs just you surprised me. I finally found the confidence to talk to you today, but you beat me to it,â she says with a reassuring smile.
Her words and smile have the desired effect. His face quickly changes from disappointed to relieved and a bright smile that reaches his eyes spreads across his face and she canât help it when her smile widens just the same.
âKillian Jones, at your service,â he says as he reaches his hand out.
âEmma. Emma Swan,â she replies, placing her hand in his. He surprises her when he brings it closer, placing a kiss on the back of her hand, only giving her a cheeky wink when she shakes her head, but her smile never wavers.
It turns out Killianâs brother, Liam, owns the coffee shop which is how he knew her orders. The friendly barista is his sister-in-law, Elsa, who knew of Killianâs interest in her and the little game he started in the hopes of getting her attention, which explains those looks sheâd give her.
She learns he works at the docks, he is good with ships, and moved to Boston a few months ago to be closer to his brother and sister-in-law as they are the only family he has. His mother died in childbirth and his father abandoned them when he was a child.
They sat talking for hours, getting to know one another. When Emma finally had to go home, reluctantly they said goodbye to each other and Killian told her heâd text her so they can set up a time for their first actual date.
She didnât have to wait long since he texted her only ten minutes after she left and she laughed at how adorable he is.
Their first date is wonderful, both expected and unexpected. When they talked in the coffee shop, he seemed to be a gentleman and thatâs how he acted on their date. When they played their game however, he was a different person. He was a mix of both on their date and she was happy to see that, see all of him. She also saw how easily she could fall for this man. And for once, the thought of falling in love didnât scare her.
Many more dates follow and soon they find themselves celebrating their two year anniversary. Emmaâs come a long way in the past two years. Not only did she find a man she loves and who loves her in return, she also found a family and friends.
Liam and Elsa were very welcoming, she and Elsa hitting it off straight away. When she didnât have plans with Killian, she was with Elsa.
Since itâs their anniversary, Killian has a special surprise to mark the occasion.Â
He proposes that night. With an empty box.
âSeriously?â
He gives her a mischievous grin, then pulls out the ring from his pocket and places it on her finger.
She sighs exasperatedly, but he just kisses her while pulling her close. She canât help but wrap her arms around his neck, eventually smiling into the kiss.Â
If you asked Emma whatâs missing from her life, sheâd say nothing at all.

This one-shot came to fruition after adult-in-training23 started discussing Colinâs baby face in the trailer for The Dust Storm. I said, wouldnât it be funny if Killian has to shave his beard for whatever reason and that Iâd love to see it on the show. This is the result of that. Enjoy!
The One Where Killian Has To Shave His Beard
Liam didnât realize what he did was wrong. He was one and half years old after all. In retrospect, Emma shouldâve known something like this would happen because itâs what happened to her, with Mary Margaret and David being True LoveâŚ
Emma and Killian discovered their True Love statusâ
(After it happened, he insisted over and over that he knew it to be true practically from the moment he met her, despite the setback in New York when his kiss did nothing. He explained how he realized his mistake after a long conversation with David about Snow and a forgetting potion.)
âduring the âDark Swanâ incident. Merlin explained what they shouldâve already realized: True Loveâs Kiss could break any curse. Killian kissed her after professing his undying love and the Darkness was eradicated.
As he looked down at her panting form in his arms, Killian couldnât help the feelings that swelled in his heart at having her back.
âMarry me, Swan.â
âWhat?â she asked as she sat up.
âMarry me. Right now.â He brushed a piece of her hair behind her ear. âWe love each other, of that there is no doubtâŚâ
âObviouslyâŚâ said Henry from behind them and the two of them turned around to see him, along with Mary Margaret, David, Regina, and Robin standing a ways away with King Arthur, Guinevere, and Merlin.
âKillianâŚâ
âDonât think about it Swan.â
âEmma.â Regina stepped forward from the group. âItâs your turn to be happy. Youâve done so much already for all of us and so now, itâs your turn. Say yes because Iâm sure none of us want to deal with a sad and broody pirate.â That made everyone laugh and Emma looked back over at Killian. She took his face in her hands
âYes.â
They were married the next day, with Arthur officiating. While the others returned to Storybrooke, Killian and Emma stayed in Camelot to celebrate their honeymoonâŚ
âŚand a month later, after falling asleep in her office and then fainting at her parentâs loft a few days after that, in between bouts of throwing up, Emma took a test that confirmed her suspicions: she was pregnant.
Liam was a troublemaker already, just like his father. One and a half years old and his magic got him in trouble. He didnât do it on purpose, he just didnât fully understand how to control it yet. So when he saw his big brother blow a bubble of pink gum, he clapped his little hands and Emma saw that glint in his eyes (he got his fatherâs bright blue eyes and his dark hair, just about everything else was Emma), she knew that nothing good was about to happen.
Magic sparked in the air and as Killian walked into their kitchen and Liam waved his chubby hand, sending the wad of gum in Henryâs mouth flying and it landed square in Killianâs scruff.
âLiam David Jones! No sir!â said Emma, in an attempt to scold her youngest son. Henry had fallen out of his chair and was rolling on the floor in laughter as Killianâs attempts to pry the offending piece from his face.
âSwan. Swan, just how the bloody hell do I get this offending monstrosity off of my face?â He pulled his hand away from his scruff and long pink strings of gum clung to his hand. Killian looked over at his wife whose face was starting to match the color of the offending item he was attempting to deal with.
âYou should see your face!â
âSwanâŚstop laughing.â
âHahahahahahaha!â
âSwanâŚâ
âYou should see yourself!â
âSwanâŚâ Killian rolled his eyes. âHenry, lad, must you laugh as well?â
âDonât- donâtâŚjust donât look at me or Iâll never stop laughing!â Seeing his mother and brother laughing so hard got Liam started on the giggles.
âDonât you start too little lad. This magical malfeasance is your fault!â Liam simply giggled harder and clapped his hands some more.
âHenry, take your brother and get him cleaned up so we can get to your grandparentâs for my brotherâs birthday dinner. Iâll take care of Captain Pinkbeard over here.â
âSwan!â
âSure thing Momâ, Henry snickered as he plucked Liam from his high chair (where heâd been snacking on Gerber Puffs) and carried him off to the nursery.
âSwan, how am I to get rid of this?â Killian asked as he pointed to the gum.
âYouâre just going to have to shave.â The look on his face was practically the same one when sheâd left him on the beanstalk all those years ago and she just smiled. Ever since theyâd met, sheâd been curious as to how the fearsome pirate captain would without his trademark scruff.
âSwanâŚno. I refuse. Iâve been cultivating this for over 300 years!â
âSwan yes. Itâll grow back.â
âNo.â
âYes.â Emma waved her hand and they disappeared in a puff of white smoke and reappeared in their bathroom. She snapped her fingers and a can of shaving cream and a razor appeared in her hands. She stuck the razor in the front pocket of Killianâs shirt and squirted the cream into her hands.
âSwaaaanâŚâ
âAre you whining? Over a little facial hair?â
âYes.â
âI have to do this Killian.â She started spreading the cream all over his facial hair.
âBut whyyyy?â Â He pouted and stuck out his bottom lip.
âBecause you canât walk around town with a big pink wad of Bubbalicious stuck in your beard Killian.â
âHmph.â
âNow donât move unless you want a matching scar on your other cheek, Captain Whinypants.â
âYouâre lucky I love you darling.â Emma laughed silently as she started her work.
A little while later, she finished and wiped her husbandâs face off of excess shaving cream. When Emma finally got a good look at him, she gasped.
âWhat is it?â Killian sounded a little apprehensive. âEmma Jones, you tell me right now.â
âLook in the mirror.â Killian scooted over towards the mirror and his jaw practically dropped to the floor as he ran a hand over his face.
âSwan, why have you done this to me?! I look like a newborn babe!â Emma stood behind him and put her chin on his shoulder as she looked into the mirror as well.
âCome on Jones. You look great, not a day over 100.â She kissed his newly shaved cheek and ran out of the bathroom.
Later that night, at her parentâs place, Henry pulled Emma aside.
âYou do realize we couldâve just Googled how to get gum out of hair, right?â
âIâm sure.â
âI looked it up and all we needed was peanut butter. You couldâve probably used your magic too.â
âYou are not wrong.â Henry looked over at his mother and saw the devious glint in her eye.
âYou knew all that didnât you? You did it to him on purpose!â
âShhhh!â Emma pulled Henry farther away from where Killian, Liam, Neal, and her parents sat in the living room playing with the boys. âOf course I knew. I had a kid stick gum in my hair once and the foster mom wasnât horrible so she did the peanut butter trick.â
âThen why--â
âBecause itâs hilarious?â Emma looked back at her family and saw David laughing again and Killian shot him a look and a grumbled âShut it mate.â âItâs like I said to him, itâs going to grow back. Also, I was curious to see how he looked without the scruff. He looks so young.â
âHe looks like he hasnât had deal with everything thatâs happened to him.â
Killian was happyâŚuntil he went to Storybrooke Library with Liam the next day and was discovered by Robin and Will. Belle said sheâd never seen three grown men act like such children when Killian calmly handed Liam to her and started chasing the two thieves around the library with his hook.

âLove, are you expecting anyone?â Killian asked.
Emma shook her head. âNo. If he was stupid enough to think he could show up tonightâŚâ
âSurely I would hope the man has an ounce of common sense, darling. But hope can be hard to find, allow me to answer your door?â
She nodded again and he opened the door to find a young boy, probably around 10 years old.
âUh hi...is this Emma Swanâs apartment?â he asked. The boy was carrying a large book that appeared to be quite old and a backpack over his shoulder. Instantly, Killian had a gut feeling this was the child Emma gave up.
Curiosity getting the better of her, Emma peeked around Killian's frame in her doorway to see the boy standing there. âIâm Emma Swan. Are you lost?â
âNo,â he said with a grin as he pushed past Killian, currently standing there is shock, and headed into the apartment. The boy hopped up onto a bar stool, in front of her birthday cupcake. âIâm Henry. You gave me up for adoption 10 years ago. How fitting that I found you on your birthday.â
âYou...wait a...what?â Emma stuttered on shaky legs, reaching out to grab Killianâs arm. She felt as though her legs were going to give out on her.
âDid you or did you not give up a baby boy 10 years ago?â Henry asked, plain as day, as though they were having a simple conversation about the weather.
Shocked, Emma felt herself lean fully into Killian. âI did. But why are you here?â
âOh, because I need you to come home with me.â Henry said with a smile.
âWhere is home?â she asked tentatively.
âStorybrooke, Maine.â
âNever heard of it.â Emma said skeptically.
âI know. But itâs where Iâm from and I really need you to come back with me. Can I have just a bite of your cupcake?â Without waiting for a response, he took off the wrapper and bit into the cupcake.
âLove, come here a moment.â Killian said and gently pulled her to the other side of the room. âYou believe him, yes?â
Emma nodded. âHe has his eyes.â
Killian sighed. âWell love, I have not a bloody clue why he chose to show up on your birthday or wherever this town is, but I think you owe it to him to take him back, yes? I mean, he canât just get there on his own.â
âHey Kid,â Emma interrupted. âWho brought you here?â
Henry grinned. âMe. I bought a bus ticket and then I paid for a cab.â
Emma arched an eyebrow at Killian. âOkay, fine, so he did get here himself, but you really canât send your son off by himself, can you?â
âNo.â Emma said in a small voice.
âItâs late. Have him stay here and you can drive him home tomorrow. I have a meeting with an author and editor in D.C. tomorrow afternoon. If there was any way I could get out of it, I would come with you, but I cannot.â He looked genuinely miserable at his confession.
âNo, itâs okay. I should do this alone. But stay here tonight?â She asked.
âOf course, love. Of course.â
âHey, uh, Kid. Itâs going to take hours to Maine. Are you okay with crashing on the couch here and Iâll drive you home in the morning?â Emma asked awkwardly.
âCool! Iâd love to. Can I have some juice?â Henry replied enthusiastically.
Killian poured the boy some juice while Emma rummaged around in her linen closet looking for a spare pillow and blanket.
Downing the juice in five second flat, Henry grinned up at them both and said âThanks! Iâm really tired from the bus ride here. Iâm just going to go right to bed, okay?â

Emma wasnât sure what type of first impression she was giving to Henry by having Killian spend the night, but part of her didnât care. She knew tonight, of all nights, she really didnât want to be alone. Her past had finally caught up to her and now she had no choice but to deal with it head-on. Plus, Henry hadn't asked if Killian was her husband or boyfriend, and it wasn't as though he knew how early into the relationship it was for them.Â
Killian held her tightly, one hand gently running through her curls. It figured as soon as they made a monumental leap forward in their relationship that something would get in the way. Killian had expected it would be Neal, coming back with some sob story and trying to win Emma back. She was too smart for that now, he sensed. He knew they would always have a history, mainly because the proof was currently asleep on Emmaâs couch, but he got the impression that Emma might finally be able to move on from Neal.
âDo you want to talk about tomorrow, sweetheart?â he asked gently.
âThere really isnât anything to say. Iâll just drive him back to Maine and then come back here. I shouldnât be longer than a day.â she responded.
When Emma was certain Killian had fallen asleep, she whispered. Â âI think I might be really falling for you and this is terrible timing.â
He kept his breath even but couldn't stop the grin that spread over his face.Â
-\-
Henry was bouncing up and down in the front seat of her bug, ready for their trip back to his hometown. Earlier he had suggested that she bring a small suitcase of clothes, just in case she decided she liked the town and wanted to stay for a few days. Killian encouraged her, helping her to quickly pack.
Emma didnât know what to say. She sucked at goodbyes. Standing in front of Killian, she shuffled her feet, not meeting his eyes.
As though he knew, he chuckled before wrapping his arms around her and pressing a quick kiss to her cheek. âGo on, take your boy home. Iâll always be here for you.â
She nodded, turning to get in her car, when his warm grasp spun her back around to face him. âWhaâŚ.ohhhhâ she started as his lips landed on hers.
He kissed her thoroughly, perhaps not something her son should see, but Killian couldnât let her go without a proper goodbye kiss.
Finally, he broke the kiss, pulling back to rest his forehead on hers. Â âIâll see you soon, Emma.â
They lay side by side, naked and sweaty, panting from exhaustion after finally having their way with each other.
"Youâre getting new clothes," Emma finally said, breaking the silence.
"What?" Killian asked, still shaken up from their encounter. "Why?"
"Because getting you naked is far more difficult than it has to be."
Killian turned his head to look at her, but she kept her eyes trained on the ceiling. âSoâŚyou want me to get new clothes so you can get me naked in a faster, more efficient manner?â
"Yup," she said and then turned as well, giving him a little smirk.
Killian grinned and then rolled over on his side until his lips touched hers. âAs you wish.â
