omgomg ilya wanting to be with shane while he's working but doesn't want to bother him!!!! shane asks if he wants to help make a hangout corner in his office so he can stay with him and parallel play!
shane says he is always welcome to come hang out with him or ask questions about what he's doing. especially because he is usually doing stuff for irina foundation, and that's ilyas foundation too! he is allowed to have input at any age!
also i think it's harder for tween/teen ilya to break out of his rules than toddler ilya. he is much quieter in the office and will play on his ipad and not say anything. shane reminds him every time he's in the office at any age that he may not be able to answer ilya immediately if he's on the phone, but ilya can always write him a note or put his hand on his arm and shane will acknowledge him and ask what he needs as soon as he is done. sometimes if he's on a zoom he pretends he needs to pee and turns off his camera and mutes to talk to ilya and older ilya feels so special
particular vision of tween or teen ilya building lego at the kitchen barstools and then getting hungry for lunch so he so quietly goes to the doorway and peeps into the office! all shy but knows he can't use the stove without supervision or help! shane says "what's up bud" and ilya hesitates and shane looks at the time and goes "oh! it's lunch time isnt it! is that why you came?" and ilya nods and shane is like "thank you for keeping me on schedule baby sometimes i forget" because he hyperfixates and ilya can't believe he *helped* and shane is following his schedule. when he was younger it was always wait to eat until his dad said so :((((( shane has to do a lot with him to unlearn those rules because there is truly nothing wrong with getting himself a simple snack if he's hungry, shane just has some rules to make sure he's safe but not to prevent him from eating!

Love this whole scenario with shane being reminded its lunchtime too, there would be so many things for Ilya to slowly unlearn for sure, especially with stuff like rules which wouldāve been very strict and arbitrary with no explanation behind them for ilya growing up, whereas his rules with Shane are about safety and can be flexible and their purpose is explained! Its not to restrict ilya or keep him in line for control or image purposes, theyāre there for him and his wellbeing and therefore he gets a say and an explanation for them too.
ALSO ALSO Love the idea of Ilya being able to make little notes for Shane while heās at his deskā¦I am now thinking of an angsty fic concept where Ilya is regressed older and is scared of bothering Shane while heās working and so at the end of the day Shane stumbles upon this hidden pile of notes Ilya wrote to Shane with little updates and drawings and just random little comments about things and Shane is likeā¦oh budā¦why didnāt I get any of these? Cue Ilya breaking out into tears :(
