I guess this isn’t really a tutorial, but it’s how I draw hands! Using references is something everyone does! Using 3D online models, wooden figures, or yourself are all methods you can use when it comes to drawing in general- why do you think posing tools exist in the first place?

This took a bit of courage to post to be honest, I’m always scared of people who hate on people for “tracing” or referencing things.

When drawing hands, or just in general I use myself or apps like make a pose, magicposer, and Pinterest. There’s also other free apps like Manikin, easy pose, or pose arch.

Overall, for the years I’ve been doing art, I’ve done this. The only time I see this as “wrong” would be if you’re copying over someone else’s work or photography without any credit. But if you’re making you own poses, using your own photos, or just crediting when you use someone else’s, it’s ok!

How I do Lighting tutorial! This goes over color lighting, different types like top, back, top&bottom, and bottom lighting. The end has some added extra tips that are useful when figuring out what parts of the face and hair have highlights.
