Except there's some old lore documents that let you peace together that's not why it's called Crow Town. There was some ancient colony of another species on the site, and they all went missing. Nobody knows what happened to them. But someone exploring the site found a tree with CROWTOWN carved into it.

‘are you still listening?’ by Abbie Bosworth has me in a chokehold. tell me why i focus so hard on side characters that are already dead instead of the actual main characters 😔

this is about my murder mystery WIP, Crowtown. basically the main character’s aunt was blamed for the murders of her friends, and they saw her suicide as an admission of guilt. of course MC does not believe this — the plot is just her trying to prove Avery’s innocence.

i use ‘are you still listening?’ as inspiration music because, even though it is written for The Magnus Archives, i just feel like it matches the vibe i’m going for so well. sometimes you just wanna curl up into a ball and cry and trust me, my characters do that shit enough

Oscar is a great source of fun, ready to help Suzie and Nadia take a step back when they need to. It's hard for him to be serious (because then, if he's not funny, what else is he?), but he's truly empathetic, able to tell his friends' emotions at barely a glance. His father's the math teacher, but he's horrible at math no matter how much Suzie tutors him -- he much prefers art and drama. He's really the glue that holds their little group together. Without him, Nadia and Suzie would have split a long time ago.

Nadia has been known to be brutally honest and stoic, but she just has a lot of things to get done -- it's not her fault if you're in her way. Underneath the frost, however, Nadia loves nothing more than learning. But be careful -- she'll drag you into crazy (and sometimes dangerous) situations in her pursuit of knowledge.

even her older brother, Caleb, knows of her various 'projects' -- that's why he asked his friend, Isaiah Arcady, to look after her in Crowtown while he went to college.

If asked to describe herself, Suzie would probably first say she's emotional. She cries at the drop of a hat, and can't get anything done when she's upset. She's the kind of person to stay in her comfort zone -- unless she's defending family. Her mother is very close to her, and if her mother doesn't believe that her own sister, Avery, is a murderer despite what everyone says, Suzie will find a way to prove it.

Suzie is a huge math nerd. That's what she wants to study at uni -- she knows she isn't cut out for the detective life, even if she solves the Crowtown murders. The only reason she did it is because of the effect the accusations against Avery had on her family.
