You know one of the things i love most about Dr. Stone is Byakuya and Senkuu's relationship. Not like that, I mean everybody does, the feelz are alive with the sound of music and all that. Inagaki sure knew what he was doing when he gave us so many flashbacks.
But like, I love how they present this parent/child relationship, and they make it clear that Senkuu is adopted, but they still very clearly show how not being blood-related doesn't matter one bit when it comes to love.
Like you get shows like KHR where the parent hides it and the kid inevitably flips the fuck out about it, or other shows where there's all this angst when the child finds out that their parents aren't their “real” parents, doubly so because the parents always hide it.
But in Dr. Stone, Byakuya never lied about it, never tried to hide it, was always up front like - "yeah i didn't help give birth to you, you were my best friend's kid", but at the same time he also made sure Senkuu never lacked love and support, to the point where Senkuu never once cared that he didn't have blood parents, because Byakuya was all the family he ever needed.
Byakuya was always, always thinking of Senkuu. He sold his car for enough money to buy him the science equipment he wanted, told everyone who stood still long enough about him even up in space, boasted about him like nothing made him as proud as Senkuu always did, was practically ready to dive out of the space station and back to earth just to get to Senkuu after the Petrification, and when it became clear that there was no possible way he would be able to save his son, Byakuya stockpiled everything he thought Senkuu might need in the future, because he also never once stopped believing that Senkuu would break free one day.
Their familial bond is one built on unshakable trust instead of the usual messy circus of secrets just to give the MC some angst and betrayal to overcome. I find it a very nice change of pace that this manga chose to do away with that completely and just build a solid family with these two. Byakuya loved his son enough to do everything he possibly could for him, and past or future, he made damn sure that above all else, Senkuu could always, always depend on that love. In the face of that, what does not sharing DNA even matter?
