Not gonna specify a fandom on this blog because that's how I've come to be a URL hoarder lmao but I like uhhh several video games! Like the usual minecraft, stardew, pokemon, but also games like Starfy and The Last Door. I used to read a ton but haven't been good at continuing to do that for a few years, altho I have books lined up to read and if I have thoughts and feelings abt them I will slap that here!

I am genuinely. Upset. That people at Schell are in fact hanging out in the IEYTD tag on Ao3 enough to feel totally comfortable linking to it on a company blog post that, at the end of the day, IS marketing for their games. Yes, even if the people involved aren't Jared Mason himself. This is a continued kind of... erosion? Of boundary between "fanwork made for the author to see" and "fanwork made for fans to see and posted to a website For Fans" which, granted, is not EXCLUSIVELY a Schell problem. But it's still frustrating and concerning to see this continue to happen.

We like Wil Wheaton lurking in the tags on occasion because he knows how to behave, he understands fan culture being for fans and not primarily for??? Advertising team members???? and he isn't using our Ao3 posts as advertising metrics. He's looking at posts and moving on. The Schell Games team is in my living room taking real estate photos to post on Zillow while I'm watching TV in frame.

Craziest part of rewatching JoJo is getting refreshed on part 2 and realizing the pillarmen genuinely weren't doing anything wrong. They were just hanging out and wanted to be able to feel the sun without dying. They killed some people sure but those people were literal Nazis so they deserved it.
