Castiel x Winchester! reader
fluff, pre-relationship, oblivious reader, Castiel doesn't understand feelings, reader is dean and sam's sibling, Castiel POV, pronouns not specified
Castiel has never kissed anyone before. That's the thought that floats into the angel's mind as he listens to Dean talk about one of his many pleasurable nights. Your bright smile fills his head, and he stops listening to whatever Dean's talking about now. Their soul is one of the prettiest he's seen, and Castiel has seen many souls during his existence.
Your smile reminds him of the sun, warm and bright. He has them memorized. Every blemish, freckle, and strand of hair. He knows how their eyes glimmer in the sun, like the most precious of gemstones, dazzling in their own right. He could drown in their endless depths. Castiel may have a profound bond with the Golden Man, but he would do anything for you in a heartbeat.
He's ripped away from his thoughts as Sam walks through the doorway with an armful of books and the details of a new hunt on his tongue. The day moves on, and his thoughts are forgotten until much later.
It's several weeks later when Castiel is revisited by his... obscure thoughts. He's in the library, and you are there too. They are distracted, nose buried in a book, which the angel notes is about witches. He's been staring, though, for how long? The angel hasn't a clue. Castiel only realizes he's been caught when you look up from the book, and noticing the watching gaze, smiled. You are the only one who doesn't mind Castiel's odd quirks. The Winchesters are starting to get used to it, but the other hunter seemed to roll with it instantly.
The sound of their voice snaps him back to reality, away from those intense, beautiful eyes. "Cas? Did you need something?" The angel took a moment to consider the question before shaking his head. His gaze flickers to the blazing fireplace. It's warm, like Y/N. "Have you ever kissed someone?" He was thinking about soft lips on his own. How would it feel? Would he like it? Would it be just as amazing as you? He wondered if it would be too much, if his wings would melt too close to this sun, and if they didn't, would it taste like starlight? How did demons kiss people so easily? Perhaps it was because they were demons.
Turning his attention back to the now quiet hunter, he could see their face darkening with a warm blush. How were they even more beautiful? His thoughts raced. Was he nervous? Why? Absently, he thought of how all the greatest painters would never be able to replicate the beauty of his hunter. His?
"Why do you ask?" He could hear the embarrassment and surprise in their voice. "I don't know. Dean was telling me of his achievements and relationships with other people, and it made me curious." That wasn't his reason for asking, but how did he ask? How did he tell you how much he thought about them? "Have you ever kissed someone, Castiel?" Your blush was fading now, and a spark of disappointment flickered in the angel's chest. "No, I haven't."
The hunter shifted in their chair. Were they uncomfortable? Was this another thing that humans didn't talk about? Castiel was too busy anxiously worrying to notice them move to sit in the chair next to him. Gone was the book, and now the angel had the hunter's full attention. "What made you ask?" The buzzing increased, and Castiel wondered if you could hear it. Could hear how much they affected him. The angel shuffled in his seat and looked up at the ceiling. "Because I would like to kiss someone."
You snorted, amusement glimmering in their eyes. "Clearly, Cas," Their tone was light. "Do you know who you want to kiss? Is it someone I know? Please don't tell me it's Dean, I don't want to hear about how much you want to kiss my brother." There was still humor in their voice, but their eyes weren't as bright. Castiel shook his head. "No, I do not feel inclined to kiss Dean..." I want to kiss you. "Then who?" You asked. Curiosity swirled in those complicated and expressive eyes. Castiel could feel his thoughts warring with each other. It was scary, feeling so human. And that's what you did. They made him feel human.

On another note, this sucks :p
I wrote this last year and I realize how much I have changed, for instance, I hate using Y/N or any other variant. Eugh.
