Cressida’s scandalous tone is unwarranted. From his position, crouched down so that he’s eye level with the coconut, Cyrus gives her a bored look. She’s halfway through tugging on her coat.
“Making coconut sorbet,” he says, like it should be obvious.
“You’re holding a machete,” Cressida says faintly, pulling on the other sleeve of her coat.
“I’m holding a chef’s knife,” he corrects.
“I really don’t want to spend our birthday in the hospital because you cut your hand off.”
Cyrus makes a face. “You asked for coconut sorbet for our birthday.”
“I thought you were going to buy some at the store, not—”
“Yeah, whatever. If you don’t hear from me in an hour, the coconut won.”
