Argos: Alright smart guy, since I’m possessing you…

Argos: Why don’t you decide who I take control of next.

Logan: No one! You shouldn’t target anyone else and you should let me go!

Logan (internally): Please Roman please please it would be so funny…

Argos: You know I can hear like- all of your thoughts, right?

Logan: GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!

Virgil: It’s nice to see you again?..

Argos: Oh I’ve see you plenty!

Patton (offscreen): Come on you have to help us Janus!

Roman (offscreen): You’re both dark sides, maybe he’d listen to you!

Janus: okay I don’t know how to explain this to you but a side that wants to be heard and the side who kept him hidden-

Janus: Might not actually be all that close.

As the text said I believe orange is anger, specifically rage. I also think he’s justice or at least connected to it. Since Patton is most of Thomas’ emotions the two are brothers, though Argos is younger instead of twins since anger was only one part of what Patton represented instead of a full 50/50 split. They have a tense relationship at best though not as outwardly violent as the twins get, less of the sibling energy from arguing that the twins have because they’re kind of just distant. Patton focuses on his found family and Argos kind of just hates everyone except maybe there’s some solidarity with Remus and a love/hate situationship with Logan.

I think the thing with the eyes is something like possession or mind influence and in his introduction he’ll take over Logan fully, maybe even trying to take control of the other sides as well. Basically trying to force everyone to listen to him and express their own bottled up anger.

Argos wasn’t my name idea first, but I’ve liked it since I first heard it a few years ago. An alternative idea i had is Icarus but that’s going into further speculation of if he’s connected to justice maybe he initially was seen as good until Thomas was reprimanded for showing anger growing up. Since Logan wears primarily black I made him wear primarily white, and I did kind of take inspiration from the “punk orange side” designs that have been floating around- but I didn’t go as extreme in that aesthetic. It does fit his vibes since it’s a subculture often seen as scary and associated with delinquents but in reality punk is about standing up for what’s right. Also someone compared the white jacket to a lab coat which wasn’t intentional but I kind of like the slight mad scientist vibe for him.

Anger is often seen as bad or at least something that leads you to do bad things, overreacting and lashing out at others. And even from a non moral standpoint it tends to be treated differently from other negative emotions like sadness or fear, in some circles it’s an emotion you’re not supposed to express and in others it’s the only one men are allowed to. We haven’t really seen c!Thomas get angry (frustrated yes but nothing explosive) and it’s clear Logan is repressing his anger, so I think it makes sense for anger to be a repressed side and to be separated from other emotions.

But for all the hurt anger can make you cause it’s very important, especially in the current political climate you need to be upset by and speak out about injustice instead of just saying polite and calm for the sake of “keeping the peace”. Anger is healthy, it lets us recognize when wrong is being done and makes us want to do something about it. Anger can bring vengeance or justice.

So I kind of think Argos is in an interesting place morally as an antagonist. The tldr is that to me he’s one of those morally gray antagonists who does what he thinks is necessary for his goals, being willing to do some bad for what he perceives as “the greater good”. Bending the rules towards the sides for the sake of a greater justice outside of Thomas’ head.

He’s doing what he does (mind control) because he wants Thomas and the other sides to listen to him and thinks (somewhat rightfully) he has to use force to get that. Because he’s a side he doesn’t hold himself to the standards of human morals, he wants Thomas to put his foot down more but there’s lines Argos would cross that he doesn’t necessarily think Thomas has to, things he’d to do the sides he wouldn’t want Thomas to do to an actual person (well maybe in the heat of the moment he would, but when things calm down Argos tends to think things through a lot, he’s a calculated plotter). He cares about doing the right thing on some level but he’s ruthless in his goals of being listened to and can also lash out when he’s upset.
