I've taken time to refine the elements of this piece now and am pretty happy with it. Sorry again for the self portraits, they were mandatory. My concept for this piece was originally intended to show in visual terms how I interpret the creative process to be - cool opportunities exploding into hot ideas. The mind as a creative "filter" to solve problems. Chaos into order- and art. It still does that, only with my head representing the filter. I liked how my sketched self portrait melded with the self portrait photograph in the same way - an intentional reversal of the typical process, pencils to pixels, as ideas are filtered through my brain.
Below is a shot list of other found Internet art I used to create this piece, including my originals:

The self portrait was an experiment, and was taken in June 2013 as part of a photography class I took.
The face sketch is an original, one I did for this piece, and was drawn in January 2014.
There are some drawn wings - I thought the symmetry of the piece called for something wing-like, don't ask me why - so I drew some bird wings that I found on Etsy (did you know you can purchase bird wings from Etsy? I didn't) and they are included in the narrow horizontal white stripes. I ended up not using the actual wing shapes and just the sketched textural quality as a unifying element in the work.
