Needlepoint lace. I always like to learn a new craft and over part of my summer holiday I decided to try my hand at making lace, needle point lace to be exact. I liked the freedom it offered in that I could draw out any shape I wanted and go from there. After some research and a little test run I got going. Not a quick craft and very fiddly, the whole thing being made from just cotton thread, the same as you use in your sewing machine. You have to lay out all the outlines first, sew on to some kind of backing, I used paper, but I've seen in done on fabric too, to hold all in place. Next you have to attach all of these together with whatever stitches you choose, all seem to be a variant on a button hole stitch. Once this is complete you then use a button hole stitch again, but much more tightly to go over all of the outlines. Once complete it has to be taken off of the paper and you are left with a piece of lace :). #new craft #learnacraft #new skill #lace #handmade lace #needlepoint lace #whitelace #laceinsert #handmadelace #florallace #lacehearts #lacetop #lacemaking #sewing #craftysummer
