Hey besties!
Welcome to a corner of the internet where hermit crabs aren’t decorations - they’re wild, complex little foragers.
I'm Christina, the owner of The Crabby Critter Company - an Etsy shop that specializes in foraging items for your critters.
25+ years ago, I worked at a beach shop in Navarre, FL. At the end of season, there were 3 tiny hermit crabs left, and I was asked to throw them in the dumpster - alive!
Needless to say, I couldn't do it. I brought them home, and cared for them the best that I could with the limited care information that I could find. Unfortunately, after many years, they passed.
Fast forward to present day - I am now a wife, and a mother. I have 4 hermit crabs - Beetle, Grimace, Wingstop & Vinny. I adore them. Hermit crabs have always been my most favorite "pet" that I've owned. Watching them calms me. I saved them, but they have saved me as well.
I started my Etsy shop with hermit crabs in mind. The products I sell are the same products I give my guys - I call them my "Testers" btw. That being said, I know that hermit crabs are not the only critters that forage, and I wanted to bring a taste of Florida to all foraging critters.
In my shop, you will find leaf litter, lichen covered branches, whole camellia flowers, and even a fancy foraging treat. All products are Tester approved and ready to put directly in your habitat.
I'm going to promote my shop (of course), but I also want to teach you things about hermit crabs that you may not know. Beach shops and pet stores don't give new owners the correct information. They aren't "cheap" or "easy". They are wild, pulled from their environment, usually to die in a wire cage that doesn't hold the humidity they need to survive.
I hope you give me a follow, and join me on this journey of advocating and education. Thank you!
