Az utolsó Nokia Communicator az iPhone megjelenésének tájékán jelent meg, a ketegória pedig az ahhoz hasonló készülékek elterjedésével nagyjából ki is halt. S bár qwerty billentyűzetes okostelefonok még egész sokáig jelen voltak a piacon, mára már csak egy viszonylag szűk réteg keres ilyen készülékeket és jobbára a BlackBerry évente frissítésre kerülő fizikai billentyűzetes modelljeiben merül ki a választék.
