hii! this might be a little long so hold on and i don't mean anything in a rude way, sorry if it comes off that way

i used to kind of like mike. he never really stuck out to me the way characters like brittany or blaine did but he was sort of a calm character you could root for. i also adored tike so much, they were my fourth favorite canon ship of the entire show for a while. but the more i thought about some scenes and watched certain episodes, i realized he wasn't really all that nice towards tina like i initially thought he was.

i get that he was under a lot of stress from his dad in asian f and hold onto sixteen but that doesn't really excuse how he would threaten to break up with tina and brought up the fact she used to fake a stutter to use it against her. she just wanted to help him achieve his dream. she literally got him into college and never got a simple thank you.

and then there's props. probably his second worst episode, the first being rocky horror where he says the t slur. i hate him in that episode. tina finally stood up for herself after three years of being silent and shes immediately faced with hate for acting like how rachel acts. she wants support and she probably expected her boyfriend to be by her side but hes annoyed at her and calls her selfish. he says that rachel is " one of a kind " and that tina will have her turn next year which i believe set tina into her s4-5 mentality where she has to be a diva to get some respect and be valued.

in born this way, he calls tina a " self hating asian " for wanting to wear blue eye contacts. shes clearly offended by this and by the end of the episode she no longer has the eye contacts on and loses her blue highlights. i may be reaching but its like wtf??? i get removing the contacts, she herself said that she loves herself and has decided to not use them but whats up with the blue highlights being gone. i just feel like these things are all connected.

and then i just like don't consider things that are related to tina, he didn't really have much of a personality. i find him overrated and that he isn't as unproblematic as people like to say he is. he might seem unproblematic compared to some characters but that's not saying much because its glee. he said slurs like finn, he was rude like santana, and he was as boring as majority of the s1 wemma scenes.

but despite all that, i respect his talent and that sometimes he was a good boyfriend and didn't take tina for granted. i do still like tike at time and sometimes it sucks to see such good potential be wasted

tldr: mike treated tina like shit and doesn't really have a personality. i might be a little biased but it's just what i think at the moment. maybe i'll like him some day, opinions change over time.
