the love confession scene is just so endlessly precious. i love that you can hear ilya’s necklace the whole time he’s whispering i love yous to shane in russian. it’s as if his mother is singing to him, signalling that this, too, is love, that he will be loved again, fully, whole-heartedly, passionately. she’s giving him the strength to give himself up to it so he can fall and be embraced.
sorry for the garbage photo quality, but i just think Eddie's red jacket is suuuuuch an interesting choice for this scene because not only is it a big departure from Eddie's usually more conservative, neutral-toned looks, but it also makes him stand out compared to everyone else in the bar. everyone else around him is wearing the typical southwestern style of boots, jeans, and cowboy hats, which Eddie is often shown wearing hell, i think even a black leather jacket would be much more in Eddie's wheelhouse. So why a slick red leather jacket? It doesn't look like anything Eddie's ever worn. Even by comparison, Buck is wearing a fairly conservative outfit in his white and blue pinstripe shirt (shooting arc similarities not withstanding)
i mean like, eddie usually wears simple, practical clothes, typically in grays, browns, whites, blacks, and blues. Yes, he's typically styled in a jacket of varying tones over a plain black or white shirt. And that is the same style he's wearing here, but just not in this color. This color and style of jacket is completely out of character for him. Why on earth would they put him in a neon red leather jacket? and then it hit me-
Is this jacket Eddie's scarlet letter? Does it show his obvious undeniable difference from a community he used to fits so well into? Is it representative of his cardinal sin: that he's in love with another man?
And to add to this, @/_insidethevoid on Twitter pointed out that Eddie only gets hit on by the waitress when he's wearing someone else's clothes, i.e., when the jacket (scarlett letter) is gone.
It's almost as if now that the Scarlet letter denoting shame/sexual wrongdoing is gone, people see him as just another "normal" guy (and he's back in those neutral tones I was talking about earlier)
idk idk I might be reading too much into this, but I feel like they really might have cooked here

The little hint of notes when Lili mentions him. then the full blown thing when he actually appears on screen. it coming back or dropping when he's present or not. A very nice theme he has. Not sure if it counts as one. but it's nice to think of him having a theme. Like wow he has a dedicated music track. so cool. so awesome. it's funky. it's him.
Henry Emily analysis/rant post because I need to talk about him before I explode ->
Although he wasn’t on screen for very long, I especially loved Henry in this movie (very biased but shhh) — seeing how desperate he was to talk to somebody about Freddy’s, being so quick to admit to Mike that he usually got prank calls after putting up that flyer hurt a bit because you know nobody’s really taking him seriously.
(Also the concept of him putting up that flyer because he can’t stand how much the murders at Freddy’s have been watered down and are basically being celebrated with stuff like Fazfest).
I also think his desperation was even more clear when he literally started venting to Mike about how he failed as a father and what it ended up costing him. He STILL can’t bring himself to go to Freddy’s because of it, how long did he wait for someone to visit him just so he could make them take that music box back to Charlotte’s final resting place because he couldn’t stomach the thought of going back there?
..But he still ends up being weirdly reclusive about everything.. the way he takes long pauses before deciding to say anything to Mike again is really interesting. He keeps that trait of always seeming off in his own mind; he never really makes that much eye contact with Mike anyway (like here when he’s further talking about Freddy’s).
Even when Mike leaves, Henry once again takes a moment to make up his mind on saying something and then misses the chance simply because of that 😠you can see his eyes go from Mike -> the closing door -> Mike leaving -> pathetically staring at the closed door

This is also evident when he turns to look at the (off screen) music box, you can practically see the cogs turning in his head as he immediately goes into thought about whether or not he should give it to Mike.
I also really like how observant he is just in general tbh
The moment he sits down with Mike he starts eyeing him up and down intensely and deliberately ,, what is he thinkign….
It’s not a judgemental look, just him. Observing. Seeing what parts of Mike he can pick apart. Like Henry’s building a portfolio on him.
..What a freak no wonder William liked him
AND that hard ass line he dropped

He still grieves so intensely it hurts my heart
I also think it’s worth mentioning how he bares that weight —
He kept that last note from Charlotte on the day he was needed most, he kept various newspaper clippings surrounding Freddy’s, especially relating to Afton and Charlie’s murder being swept under the rug. Hell, he even keeps the music box he made for her out in the open, waiting to be delivered.
All of these things being reminders of how much of this circles back to him, leading it to be his fault one way or another and he DOES NOT try to make himself out to be a victim.
It’s reminiscent to his monologue in the Insanity Ending from FNaF 6, where Henry continuously acknowledges where he fucked up (here, he KNOWS he was a bad parent, he KNOWS he should’ve done something and he’s always hard on himself about that).
…Also notice how the outside of his house is really uninviting and worn out, weeds have taken over the front, the paint is peeling off and it looks abandoned (except for his sick ass motorcycle hello stop aurafarming ???)
But the inside is warm and inviting, cozy too like it feels like a home; it’s comforting
could even be… symbolism for Henry himself…he looks like a weird unkempt freak and..lowkey is one but he’s full of love on the inside ok guys
Idk if I’ve already mentioned this sometime before but it’s the same with William too
Will’s house is this big, grand two story building, clean and impressive, but on the inside it’s cold and bleak; much like William himself.
Anyways in conclusion, I loved seeing him in this movie and despite the little screen time (hoping that he gets much much more in the third movie) he was portrayed super well!!! I desperately need to see the script and what kind of stage directions they had written in it for Henry oughhh,,
Skeet Ulrich absolutely killed the role too and my photo gallery has already been infected + Henry made me feel things I #needthat I #NEEDTHATBAD
Of course there is plenty more to talk about and dissect when it comes to him and his home but I’m leaving it like this for now, thank you for reading <3
