'Meow hissed at him. "Without the military, children will be carved. The Remora has advanced weaponry and pirates are better on the ground than in the air. If we lose them they'll blend in with the civilians. And, Bow"-she glared through her green helmet visor-"if the mothership learns we can't intervene, the colony is extinct."
Bow glowered, dipping his head in hesitant acceptance. "Partner, I trust your next move will be decided in wisdom."
"How do you feel about being court-martialed?"
They broke formation. Before Nindori's angry communications came through, Meow cut the power. "We might be able to cut them off," she said, inhaling through her teeth as the ship shuddered in protest under the stress of hyperspace. Bow readied himself back into firing position. Miles of cold space danced past them in a display of swirling stars and planets until their ship maxed out and vibrated to a manageable speed. Approaching them was the giant planet Ophinhale, a beautiful blue and green world cast in the shadow of its evening.’
My little nerd project. I wanted to write a smash bros fanfic when I was a tweenager but decided it needed to be as canon accurate as possible. The problem with Nintendo games is a lot of them don't have solid storylines and their lore is all over the place. Take animal crossing for example. However, within animal crossing there are many confirmed canons of the villagers having come from a different planet. The new planet they reside on in the games is the same one the Mushroom Kingdom and Koopa Kingdom are on as well (as stated by Gulliver).
This led me down the rabbit hole of Star Fox characters not only being in the same universe, but the animal villagers and the animal soldiers are actually one and the same. They canonically speak the same language even... a unique one only mentioned in those two games specifically.
Not sure how much of this Nintendo did on purpose, but it's fascinating the connections.
So after several years of playing with canons and filling in the blanks with my best headcanons, I now have a solid story for animal crossing, which explores all of the characters in the games and their backstories, history, drama, and more.
There are many more games connected to this one, too. I was surprised Banjo Kazooie fit into the canon so freaking well...
