Cause he might have accidentally revealed what can kill her

Grim has no idea that Hood is his father. You see, when Grim Creeper was really little, the Trap Team was investigating Void Bringer's crimes and almost caught her, but she framed her husband, Hood Sickle, for her villainy and let them take him away. Grim and Core are completely unaware of this, and only have very vague, blurry memories of they're father, so they don't recognize him as such.

While Hood Sickle wants nothing more than to connect with his children, he's afraid of ruining Olive and Grim Creeper's reputations if they're discovered to be an ex-villain's family, and he has no way of reaching Core Blight without Void Bringer noticing.

Core Blight is a member of the Void element, and it's genuinely fucked him up in the head. He also has the ability to force someone to remember any memory he wants them to, and can read their memories (but not their current thoughts) whenever he wants.

Core Blight and Grim Creeper come from a long line of villains, and they were both expected to be evil as well, but Grim (who went by Curce Banewood at the time)rejected this fate and ran away. However, before actually he did so, Curce tried to convince his brother Demas Banewood(AKA Core) to go with him, but Demas was too afraid and ratted Curce out before he could escape. Obviously, Curce still managed to Houdini his way out of there, but his relationship with his twin brother was irreparably damaged.

Core has been negatively compared to Grim his whole life. Grim Creeper is confident, naturally talented (even if his methods seem strange at first glance), charming, and deceptively smart. On the other hand, Core Blight an overthinking wreck, still struggles to control the powers that he's had for centuries at this point, naturally drives people away, and while he is a genius magic-wise, he has trouble understanding things from a social stand point and has a bad habit of making the wrong choices. He'd probably be better if he had actual support growing up, but that isn't what happened.

That said, he doesn't hate/blame Grim for the abuse he went through, since Grim Creeper is also the only person who cared for him when they were children.

He's terrified of his mother, the villainess Void Bringer, which is why he betrayed his brother and is leading a life of villainy and pain. The only time that he's ever outright disobeyed her is when he soul-bonded to the vigilante Shadowsear (not that he will ever tell anyone).

Will subtly sabotage Void Bringer if Shadowsear asks (or is in danger because of her), but doesn't care to defy her otherwise.

Purposely avoiding Ghost Roaster because he's afraid of what his brother-in-law will do to him in honor of Grim.

A father to twin boys (Smog and Fireball Banewood), and actually surprisingly decent at being one. Well, he's giving them a good childhood at least. You see, Core doesn't give a single shit about what his kids end up doing later in life, and therefore isn't teaching them how to be normal members of society, but it's better than showing them the horrific things he does to people or physically/mentally abusing them.

Despite not caring about what his sons end up doing, Core doesn't want them to end up like him and Grim Creeper, so he does his best to foster trust and support between the two.

Core Blight deeply misses Grim, but doesn't think it's possible to reconnect with him, not while Core's still they're mother's lapdog at least.
