Thrifty Witch Charm for Love and Luck
I hesitate to call this a “charm” being that it’s a relatively large pouch, though I suppose if one was so inclined he/she/they could technically wear it on their person. My intended use for this charm is to give strength, love, and luck to my fiance and myself while we battle out a frustrating mortgage negotiation and a slew of emotional hardships we’ve been slammed with over the past year, but this could be easily tailored to fit your specific needs.Â
Here’s what you’ll need:
Rose hips, petals, or buds (I used dried because that’s what I had on hand but you can use fresh as well)- for love and protection
Cloves- to repel negative influences and energy
Salt- for purification, protection, and groundingÂ
Basil- for money, love, and protection
Rosemary- for contentment, love, money, and clear thinkingÂ
Some sort of pouch (I prefer to use cloth from clothing I’ve worn a lot and has my energy on it, in this case I cut off the foot of a pair of stockings and used it as a bag. Feel free to pick your own fabric and color, though).
Red thread- for energy, defense, passion, career, and strength
Orange thread- for justice, property, and adaptability
Green thread- for money, abundance, success, and growth
Bonus: Silver thread (the moon, The Goddess, astral energy, intuition), and purple thread (psychic ability, progress, meditation, influence) wound around a lock of your own hair or the hair of the person you are making the charm for.Â
1. Get to a calm place. Do whatever ritual you like to perform before spell casting. I usually put away all electronics, get into comfy clothing or take my clothes off, and let myself relax and become quiet. I don’t cast a physical circle, but I do visualize one as I wind down.Â
2. One by one, place the rose, cloves, salt, basil, rosemary, and hair wrapped in thread into your pouch. Focus on the reasons you are making the charm.Â
3. Take the three strands of thread (red, orange, green- they should be about three feet long each) and make a knot at the top. As you tie the knot, say the name of the person you are making the charm for and visualize their face. Braid the threads together, and once it feels right make a knot for yourself. Add knots as you go for other people or things you want to include in the spell (ex: I made knots for each of our pets, one for our new home, and for possible future children). Keep braiding and knotting until you get to the end of the thread, and make two final knots for the person the charm is for and yourself once again.
4. Tie the pouch with the finished cord. Hang somewhere important or store in a special place. You can also give it to the person you made it for if that feel appropriate.
5. Like after performing any spellwork, you may feel tired after doing this. Eat a small meal or relax for a while to re-ground yourself post-casting.Â
