Our winter maintenance options range from light inspections and fluid changes to full servicing – or if there’s a big job ahead on your winter restoration project and your space heater just isn’t up to the job, we can get it sorted before the sun comes out again.

'No job too small,’ we said – and this is the smallest one yet. A teeny Fiat 500D ‘Transformable’ (or convertible to us) that’s in the Copthorne workshop for a quick heart transplant. It’s the best model to have this side of an Abarth, too, with its rag-top roof, perfect pale green paint and suicide doors. Will be a peach when the new engine is in.

Every classic garage worth its salt needs a mule – something to carry the odd box of parts or park up at a show with a little signage to advertise its services. We thought about the usual suspects: Ford Thames van, Morris Minor, maybe an Anglia or an Escort, but then this Lotus came along.

In bits and dry stored for years, it was a long way from the road, but we’ve begun the job of stripping and inspecting with a loose idea to replace rear seats with some polished ply and panel the rear windows ready for a van-like look and some Copthorne decals. 

The jury’s still out on colours – deep metallic blue perhaps? – but we’ll keep you posted as the work commences. Got any ideas? Don’t be shy, give us a call... 

A quick ‘stand back and admire’ photo of the Jensen now all works are complete. Final job list included master cylinder, rear caliper and rebuilt handbrake mechanism, plus a new water pump and Revotech fan to stop it getting hot under the collar.
