i feel like we don’t get to see zoro actually drawing his swords very often. he usually just has them in his hands already when he needs to use them. it’s gotta be kinda awkward for him lol, with all of his swords on one side of his body. so this is a fun panel to me, in that it shows off the knot he kind of twists himself into to reach his swords.
also — this is the first time we see zoro use kitstsu! first draw of his cursed blade and it’s against tashigi, his childhood friend look-alike. i doubt there’s meant to be much intentional symbolism here but still, i think there’s a lot of fun you can have in reading into that.

I start to play a videogame. Amid Evil. It is retro shooter. Three dimensional shooter. Boomer shooter, as today, some give a name for such games. And there is a feature. This makes this game unique. It is graphics. Graphic design. From one hand, it is such retro, pixelated, bright. In style of modern versions first PlayStation modernized game. It is like first Psx, but with modern updates. But still first Psx, in idea.
So, this way, can look games for first Psx, if to develop this system. And from other hand - it is some style, graphics has style. So, it is have some mystification, some mystery in game. So, it has a strange world. I have never seen such a world in some other games. And it is made by graphics.
So, graphics gives you this world. You explore the world, though visual. Visual aesthetics is perfect here. So, I think it is excellent work of graphic designer, painter, or what way this kind of people to name. It is something about abandoned moon, such a moon fantasy. Some aliens, but everything with style of fantasy. And visual. It is most powerful side of the game.
First of all, game is interesting about graphics. Such fantasy. About a Moon. And something abandoned. And still majestic. There are big locations, narrow ways. You explore very different kind of architecture. Enemies design is interesting. There are big and strong, there even flying. Mysterious fantasy. Atmosphere is a valuable part of the game.
And about gameplay, it is also very good. It is single player. Level by level. You complete locations. And this way to explore game world. About fight - it is like duels, I think. Like fight. With one or several enemies. You take a decision what to do. To use sword, fire with some magic. Sword, which can fire with some lines. Or balls. Magic stuff. And, these kind of enemies, I have never seen before. So, there are not lots of enemies at the screen. And it is like first Quake. Or in Heretic. Style, in a little, like a Hexen or Heretic.
Playing little games. From time to time i like to play videogames. And write about it.
Dima Link is making retro videogames, apps, a little of music, write stories, and some retro more.
the way the gum-gum whip is drawn here is a clever bit of paneling. there is a general rule that in manga, the person leading the action should usually be positioned on the right, because manga is read from right to left. (ofc this is not a hard and fast rule but it’s a general guideline to help make action more legible.)
here luffy is the one leading the action. in the top left panel, we have him on the right of arlong, preparing his kick. then we see the kick, and luffy stays on the right of arlong, but we switch positioning. whereas before the “camera” was behind luffy, it’s now behind arlong in a dramatic pov shift. this allows the panel to keep luffy on the right while also selling that the kick swung arlong a whole 180 degrees.
what a frenetic page of action! such a fun visual contrast to zoro’s slow hold-release action pages from the previous chapter. both are good, just very different.

What a wild angle and pose for an action panel. Dramatic foreshortening of both Zoro’s leg and sword arm, the free hand coming up to obscure his face as his leg obscures Hachi’s, the sense of motion and suspension? I fucking love it.
this is a fun action panel. luffy and sanji jumping back create a great frame for pearl in the center, and the composition is enhanced by the leaping flames. luffy is very noodly and sanji is very sharp and leggy, a great contrast to pearl’s round armor.
i’m extremely biased, but zoro gets most of my favorite action panels. it’s a full-page spread for the first toragari of the series, cmon! also, something interesting i noticed is that i think zoro’s big action panels tend to show the immediate aftermath of the attack, whereas luffy’s tend to show the moment of impact.
