I am originally from Houston, Texas and every year in the late summer we used to drive to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado to get away from the heat. I can still feel what it was like to get out of the car while my dad pumped gas, after many hours of driving, and feel the wonderful difference in the air. I can also perfectly remember waking up to the smell and sound of bacon cooking right outside the tent. I’ll be honest and say that the taste of that food cooked over a campfire and the experience of those vacations lacked absolutely nothing, but we never, ever had proper knives with us - it just wasn’t really a thing you took with you.
