IIT Mandi 13th Convocation: Over 600 Students Graduate, Riya Arora Honored with Presidentโs Gold Medal
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi celebrated its 13th convocation on November 13, 2025, conferring degrees to a total of 604 students across various disciplines. This year marked several milestones, including the introduction of BTech degrees with specialisation in entrepreneurship and the awarding of BTech (Honours) degrees to 13 students.
Degree Distribution
The graduates comprised:
71 PhD candidates
245 postgraduate students
288 BTech graduates
Notably, over 25% of the graduates were women, reflecting IIT Mandiโs continuing commitment to promoting gender diversity in STEM education.
Special Awards
Riya Arora was awarded the prestigious Presidentโs Gold Medal, recognising her exceptional academic performance and contributions to the institute.
Convocation Highlights
The ceremony was graced by Prof Shekhar C. Mande, Former Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), as the chief guest. In his convocation address, he stressed the critical role of innovation in sustainable development and urged graduates to approach national and global challenges with empathy, integrity, and leadership.
For the first time, the convocation also celebrated students pursuing entrepreneurial paths through specialised BTech programmes, reflecting the instituteโs efforts to foster innovation, start-ups, and applied research alongside traditional engineering education.
