I'm considering Shira for my Hebrew name. However, it's coincidentally the Hebrew name of my sponsoring rabbi's daughter. Would that make it a weird choice? Would naming myself Shira be too similar to naming myself after a living relative, and therefore against Ashkenazi tradition? I'll ask my rabbi, but I wanted other opinions first.

Should I reach out to my local congregation or their Rabbi first when expressing my interest in conversion? It's something that's stumped me quite for quite a bit and I haven't found anything that says close to anything about it.
I’m graduating high school in may and i recently (like a week and a half ago) started attending a reform synagogue and starting the conversion process. Should I invite my rabbi to my graduation party or would that be inappropriate?
