The english in the qsmp is dull.

I have been noticing this for a while and, talking to my non-english speaker friends (unlike myself), some have already distanced themselves from the server content because of this.

the idea of the qsmp is a global server, but this shouldn't be based soly in their nationality, but also the languages spoken in the server. And recently all we've seen is english being spoken 24/7, and of course this comes from the ease of comunicstion and speed, but we have a PERFECTLY good translator for that.

what frustated me more recently in purgatory was that, despite brigging AMAZING dynamics between the players, it reduced completely the spoken languages to english again. Because of the mini-events and distance that the creators are from each other, making the tool of amazing and automatic translation useless since it doesnt translate from a distance. And don't get me wrong, even quackity himself said he noticed he was doing more lives in english because of the "nature of the event".

When the owner of the server says this you see the problem.

anyway, second point, empanada

bagi is the pov I watch the most after my main (cellbit and morning crew) and, my god, how i LOVE this pov for being a brazillian that, for hanging out by herself, usually can speak portuguese. It's a relief. A breath of fresh air in the middle of english in weight [idk if this is a expression in english, but it means 'a lot'] from every direction

only for her to get an egg that doesn't speaks her language.

don't get me wrong, em is lovely and i'm VERY happy that niki will be able to speak german with her daughter. But at the same time, the language she does lives in is english. Just like all the other mothers.

Would it really be that hard to find an adm from a country that speaks portuguese? it doesn't even have to be brazillian. Portugal, Angola, Guiné-Bissau, Cabo Verde, Moçambique, even Macau.

I GUARANTEE you that there is a lot of people that speak portuguese that would join the QSMP team with a huge smile.

It's just dull to have a participant that came to represent the brazillian language and culture and speak portuguese 100% of the time in live because her daughter doesn't understand her language [I feel like this also goes for Ironmouse].

And I'm not saying necessarily for the creators, but for the people watching.

I started watching qsmp because of the brazillian streamers that I like, obviously, but also because I LOVE the server's idea, the cultural exchange and the linguistic trade.

The language is the main aspect of any culture and the linguistic erasure >CURRENTLY< in the qsmp makes me sad.

I was watching the old vods and it's weird to notice that — at least the brazillians— used to speak more portuguese when the translator was worse than now that it works perfectly.

It's just a bit disappointing to see a project that was made to break linguistic barriers end up keeping them through the sovereignty of the english language.

(after that, I have NO issues with the cultural aspect. The cultural exchange is made with mastery.)"

How do you save someone who doesn’t want to be saved? How do you save someone who is so far gone down the rabbit hole they can longer see the light? How do you save someone who is drowning but breathes the water as if it is oxygen? How do you save someone who doesn’t want a hero?

Every day I watch as she becomes more unreachable and unhinged. I don’t know what I should do anymore. It hurts watching her descend further and further from reality. For her reality is too painful to accept. It hurts that I can’t help her. It hurts even more that she doesn’t want my help.

Not even while sleeping is she at peace. I watch her twist and turn. I watch as the moon light hits her face, before it made her look more beautiful, peaceful and elegant, now it is a painful reminder of what was. I watch her face contort in pain. She starts whimpering, no later her soft whimpers turn to screams so horrid they would put the proudest of banshees to shame. Through all of this, as always, I remain by her side whispering sweet nothings until the early hours of the morning.

I do all of this for her…

The mornings after these episodes, she refuses to call them nightmares, are the worst. She becomes angrier, more violent and hateful “because the world is at fault not me”. She recoils further down that hole. I want to take it all in stride, be stoic or impassive but I cannot.

I do all of this for her…

On a rare occasion she told me she loves me. My heart could not take it. It hurts to know she loves someone who cannot even save her.

I am tempted to ask her why she loves, when she can do better. I am close to telling her that she could have better because she deserves that and much more.

But I am selfish…

I want and need her. I am afraid if I do tell her she will realise I am right and find better, but I also want her with me.

I am conflicted…

She is my everything. That is why I want to save her, be her hero even if she doesn’t want. But it hurts. Yes, she is my everything but she causes me so much pain. It is no longer me wanting to save her. I need to save her for my own sanity.

I want us to be happy again. To go back to how things were, before she started drowning, before she went down that hole, before she needed to be saved.

The Escape and Return

Worn-out shoes sit by the storm door,

Its squeal a siren

It was snowing when you came back

As something else entirely.

I couldn’t even see

Your breath in the cold dry air

Because you no longer

Held warmth.

And being in your arms

Made me miss you more

Sometimes she wondered what it was or why it came to her. In those moments it usually came to her, nuzzled her neck and all the doubts disappeared – as if pushed out by the pleasant feeling that comes with the nuzzling.

She woke up in the middle of the night. The creature was not in the usual spot it slept in. As she looked around she saw the light was up in her kitchen. Getting up she wondered if had forgotten to turn it off earlier. When she got close to the kitchen door some shadow rushed past her, and moment later the creature was on her shoulders. Slightly reassured she walked into the kitchen.

If, like me, you have a passion for writing, whether it be romance, horror, fantasy, mystery, script or even fan-fictions, then I suggest to keep reading. Here’s a small tip, but in a big post, about receiving feedback on your work.

Times will come when you come up with an incredible, fully planned story in your mind and all that’s left is to get it down on paper. It may take you thirty minutes, an hour, two hours, a day or even a week to get the first chapter just right. I can imagine once the beginning is written down, you’d feel a sense of accomplishment, pride in yourself, confident with what you have produced, right? Right. But sometimes, you hit bumps along the way.

The story I’m going to tell is something that happened to me on Monday of this week (30th October 2017). I need to get my thoughts and feelings about this out and the best way for a writer to do that is to, of course, write it down and see if anyone else agrees, disagrees or can even relate.

So I’m a college student, studying A-Levels and one of the subjects I study is Creative Writing. In the Monday morning lesson, we have a workshopping session where we share our coursework with our peers on our table. The previous day, I had spent a good four-five hours writing a prologue for a story which I hope to be published in the near future, then I spent a good two hours typing it up and reading it and re-reading it. I got my parents to read it and they told me they were hooked and they really liked it. This made me super happy and confident about the workshopping session. The next day in lesson, one of my good friends workshopped my piece but had changed my work entirely to how they would write it. They were saying the same thing as I had written but just in their words. My style of writing is very descriptive, mainly so the reader can picture what I’m describing but they had crossed out nearly all adjectives, simplified my writing and changed the dialogue completely. According to two teachers (my creative writing teacher and my mother), what they had written was at a poorer quality than my writing.

My mum was disgusted by what they had done because there were so many unnecessary ‘corrections’. She told me this wasn’t constructive criticism, this was bullying. I don’t think I agree that it was considered bullying but nevertheless, what my friend did, was wrong.

November 16th. I think many of you have heard about this date. Yes, you are right, today is International Day for Tolerance!  It is an annual observance declared by UNESCO in 1995 to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance. International Day for Tolerance is observed on 16 November. It is a time for people to learn about respecting and recognizing the rights and beliefs of others. It is also a time of reflection and debate on the negative effects of intolerance. 

But I do not want to write about the things you already know, about discrimination, racism, violence and etc. I would like to draw your attention to intolerance, especially when it comes to reflecting on another person’s writing. 

Many young writers are afraid not the process of writing itself (long hours with the blank page, editing again and again...), but the criticism of other people. They think that their works are worthless, and some of them may even give up. 

Writers, readers and people in general should learn how to react on other writers piece of work. They have to try to be more tolerant, even though a writing which was read is completely nonsense, or just not interesting to you. However, some advices or comments are necessary for all of us, and people need to hear the truth in order to reach the progress. So what is the best option?

Honesty. Nobody is perfect and writers know that, so tell them what is wrong, but be honest not harsh. Say what you want to say, just in other words. For example, say not what was bad, but what could be done better. Criticism must be constructive and should bring a positive mood. If you do not have nothing positive to say, than say nothing at all. For that you will get nothing but gratitude.

After all, writers should also understand that criticism is needful in order to improve their writings. They have to be brave and self-confident, if they want to be noticeable and appreciated. Writers need readers, they cannot do this alone. So, they must write things that people would want to read.
