LIKE ESKIMOS IN T-SHIRT
What amazing people are Iranians! They will open their homes and their hearts to you, without expecting anything in return. They are just waiting for someone to listen to them, someone that can understand them and encourage them to seek their own path to freedom. Freedom from the many obligations, freedom from prejudices of other countries, freedom to live in the 21st century. Young people often look older than they are, it must have something to do with too many worries in their mind. Almost every entertainment is forbidden, and news from other countries are banned. Well, at least officially. Everyone has Facebook, YouTube and satellite TV, but they may deny it. Getting to know the opposite sex may be challenging. Women must follow hejab, an islamic rule that imposes them to cover their head and their body in public since they are 9 years old. In the most conservative cities, one can see many chador, a black cloth that leaves just the face uncovered. Otherwise a scarf, a long coat and trousers would do. Preferably black, and even in the hottest days of summer, of course. A fellow traveller described this contraddiction perfectly when he said: “Imagine if Eskimos were forced to wear t-shirts!”. That said, Iranian girls look like Barbie dolls. This country has probably the highest rate of plastic surgeries in the world: nose, cheeks,lips, fat removal… But actually, due to heavy make-up, most of them look more like Bratz dolls, if you know what I mean. That is understandable, considering that the face is the only part of their body that women are allowed to show. But faces aren’t the only fake thing in Iran: shoes, clothes, even cars and Coca Cola are counterfeit! That’s normal, considering the bad relationship between the USA and many Western countries and Iranian government. Oddly enough, if you turn the Coca Cola logo and look it from the back, you can read in Persian “No Mohammed No Mecca”. Could that be just a coincidence?
ESCHIMESI IN T-SHIRT
Che popolo straordinario sono gli iraniani! Ti accolgono nelle loro case e ti aprono i loro cuori senza aspettarsi niente in cambio. Aspettano solo qualcuno che li ascolti, qualcuno che li faccia sentire capiti e che li incoraggi a cercare la loro strada per la libertà. Libertà dalle innumerevoli limitazioni, libertà dai pregiudizi degli altri Paesi, libertà di vivere nel 21° secolo. I giovani molto spesso sembrano più vecchi della loro età, sarà che hanno troppe preoccupazioni per la testa. Quasi ogni forma di divertimento è vietata, e le notizie provenienti da Paesi stranieri sono proibite. Almeno ufficialmente. Tutti usano Facebook, YouTube e hanno la TV satellitare, ma in genere non possono ammetterlo a voce alta. Per non parlare delle difficoltà di conoscere e relazionarsi con l'altro sesso. Le donne devono seguire hejab, una regola islamica che impone loro di coprirsi il capo e il corpo quando si trovano in pubblico, dall'età di 9 anni. Nelle città più conservatrici si vedono molti chador, un grande telo nero che lascia scoperto solo il viso. In alternativa bisogna indossare un foulard, una giacca lunga fin sotto le ginocchia e pantaloni. Preferibilmente neri, e anche nelle più calde giornate estive, naturalmente. Un amico viaggiatore ha trovato il paragone più adatto a descrivere questa contraddizione: “Immagina se gli eschimesi fossero obbligati ad andare in giro in t–shirt!”. Questo Paese ha probabilmente il più alto numero di operazioni di chirurgia plastica del mondo: naso, zigomi, labbra, liposuzioni… Le ragazze iraniane sembrano delle Barbie. Molto spesso, a causa di un uso eccessivo del trucco, assomigliano più a delle Bratz, se capite cosa voglio dire. Ma tutto ciò è comprensibile, considerato il fatto che il viso è l'unica parte del loro corpo che gli è consentito mostrare. Le facce non sono però l'unica cosa finta in Iran: scarpe, vestiti, perfino le automobili e la Coca Cola sono contraffatti! E’ normale, se si tiene conto delle pessime relazioni tra gli Stati Uniti e molti Paesi occidentali e il governo iraniano. Curiosamente, se si gira il logo della Coca Cola e lo si guarda dal retro, si può leggere in persiano “No Maometto No Mecca”. Possibile che si tratti solo di una coincidenza?
