I'm having a wonderful time. An awe-inspiring, mouth-dropping time. It ain't half hot though. Seriously, I'm sweating literal buckets. But it's all good fun. The hotel we were staying at had a tremendous selection for breakfast, ranging from your continental dishes that you'd find in practically any hotel to what seems to be exotic to us, but is perfectly normal for the Japanese. The cuisine is magnificent, not just in the way that every item on your plate has a different taste that is each as unique as the last, but also in the way it is set out, with beautifully laid out food that makes your mouth water. Even as someone who doesn't particularly like food, I found that breakfast amazing. And very filling. I ate a lot (for me). After the breakfast, we went to our rooms, collected our stuff, then went to the lobby, where we met the families of our students. Only Erina's mother was there, but when I arrived at their home (which, by the way, is adjacent to a temple - her father works there) I was introduced to the whole family: Her grandparents, her mother and father, and her two younger brothers. We then went food shopping. That may sound mediocre to your ears, but when you step foot in a Japanese supermarket, you realise straight away how different it is to the Western ones we are used to. The items there are not as you would find in your local supermarket. The fruit they have is either larger or smaller than what we would have. For example, the white grapes are about double the normal size, and the black grapes are smaller, but larger in number. And that's just for the things we do have. They seem to be obsessed with peaches, and they come in a variety of ways. One particular way is pickling. Pickled peaches. I didn't want to try that, my food tastes are too sensitive, and smelling them was more than enough. The meats are different, the drinks are different. Heck, even the cereal is different! One thing I really liked about it was the bagging area they had after purchasing. After every till is a large table with two rolls in the middle, with small plastic bags around it, which you can take from. But these bags aren't for putting your items in, oh no. They are for filling with ice from a cool box that is supplied. Everyone knows to bring an insulated bag and a normal bag-for-life. They put the ice in the insulated bag and you can then put your frozen foods in there, so you don't have to worry about that ice cream in the boot melting. You can take your time getting home. We then went to get ice creams from a garage, and even those are different. There are no cornettos, there are no 99's, there are no Walls. They have their own ice creams and ice lollies. I settled for a soda ice lolly, and even that was different to what I'm used to. From there we went to a household appliances and electronics store, and I was amazed by how large it was and how much there was on offer. We had went in to get new controllers for the Wii U - we are yet to play it, but I cannot wait. This meant we were in the games aisle. And I drooled. A lot. Hyrule Warriors was out on the shelf. I want it so bad, and I don't even have a Wii U. Looking at the games there, I was convinced that I want a Wii U. I need one. Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. Wii U, Super Mario 3D World, the list goes on. It's also ridiculously cheap here. Well, in comparison. Also, I laughed at the tiny display for the Xbox One.
