Ophiuchus says nothing, handing Hottataru a polished gemstone. “Try to break this. You may use any method you wish.” He sounded suspiciously as though he were going to be taking notes about this endeavour.
"You know, this is possibly one of the stranger things I've been asked to do. Nothing tops when Haurchefant asked me to use him like a seat as I practiced my lettering, but..."
Hottataru picks up the gemstone, holding it in the air for a moment as he inspects it. Then, cautiously, he taps it against one of his teeth. It's a hard stone! Good quality, no flaws either.
"Why would you want to break this... It's so nice. Well, whatever. Just don't cry when I really do break it." Clearly Ophiuchus didn't think Hottataru was really capable, which meant he had to go above and beyond.
So, gathering up his draconic aether, Hottataru lets it flow down into his arm. Scales flow down the length of his limb in a wave, wrapping around his hand and plating his fingers. At first, with how he squeezes the gem, it seems like he's going to try to crush it in his hand-
But no. He chucks it at the ground full strength like a child trying to break a wild apple they found laying in the grass-
And, well, granted... the gemstone shatters into a hundred pieces-
So does the floor tile.
Hottataru stands there, looking incredibly proud of himself for a moment before he pales-
"Ven is going to kill me."
