Degree Show Proposal/ Degree Committee Imagery
This document changed over time. There were a few ideas which I wanted to look into for the degree show. One being to simply frame whatever chosen prints and have them in the corresponding colours so I looked into framing companies for this. Then I decided I wanted to work on a larger scale and be less traditional so I went with the wallpaper idea. I was suggested to print on Japanese awagami washi paper as it was a thin consistency, however this was too expensive so I went with the next best option and ordered some lining paper. The first proposed idea to install was by attaching bulldog clips to each corner and simply nail and hang them but I decided to front mount with wood instead so that it looked flush to the wall. The rolls of wallpaper are also not traditionally going to be fixed on the wall it will roll down onto the floor.
Another concept that was thought of was to build some sort of installation of a cardboard house which will be plain on the outside to then move inside and my wallpaper be displayed across the interior pasted to the walls.
After showing a friend my wallpaper design, he instantly was reminded of the hungry caterpillar children book which at first I couldn’t picture as I had just the character in mind, but the circular motif is also a design aspect which I feel links well with my wallpaper designs.
Photography documenting my everyday trajectories and capturing pattern/ shadows/geometric angles and the concept of pareidolia which can then be extracted into prints to further enhance my practice.
Here is some visual imagery focusing on pattern/textures/shadows and the concept of pareidolia.

I booked to go and see the Grayson Perry exhibition but unfortunately due to being unwell couldn’t attend. however I chose I wanted to go as this was part of a series ‘Grayson’s Art Club’ which I was following for research last semester and though it would be great to document the physical exhibition in person.
Artist Dianne Bresson is an artist Michelle suggested and I found her work similar to my own with the bright colours and geometric shapes and also the fact that it is screen printed.
