Снегурочка / The Snow Maiden (1952) dir. Ivan Ivanov-Vano
For the attention of the spectator: this film presents an experiment in the cinematic transmission of visible phenomena. Without the aid of intertitles (a film without intertitles)—without the aid of a script (a film without a script)—without the aid of theatre (a film without sets, actors, etc.) This experimental work aims at creating a truly international absolute language of cinema based on its total separation from the language of theatre and literature. ЧЕЛОВЕК С КИНОАППАРАТОМ (Man With A Movie Camera) —1929, dir. Dziga Vertov

"The Night Before Christmas", aka "Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka" (USSR, 1961)
A Visitor to a Museum (1989, dir. Konstantin Lopushansky)
Fun fact: in 1986, the Soviet Union released a comedy musical called Moy nezhno lyubimyy detektiv (My dearly beloved detective), featuring gender‑swapped versions of Sherlock (Sherley Holmes) and Watson (Jane Watson), who are constantly bullied by sexists from Scotland Yard.
And one of the best bits was the row between Jane and Sherley because Jane was about to get married.
