What makes you tune out?
During disagreements, what makes you tune out or end the conversation? Especially when it comes to strong beliefs with people who strongly disagree, keeping a constructive conversation going can be difficult. Whether it's about religions/atheism, social or political topics, or something else, what kind of things make it difficult for you to continue genuinely considering what the other person is saying or even take the conversation seriously at all? I got the idea because GC put up a video where theists explain what atheists say that make them tune out, and particularly a comment on a video responding to that. It was mentioned that we need a list of what causes atheists to tune out. I think that's a good idea (and welcome anyone to do that - hopefully some answers to this may prove useful - though I may or may not), but I'd actually like a more general list of what causes people, in general, to tune out and what shuts down or prevents real conversation/actually getting through.
