Via @olajuartgroup 👏🏾 Eddy Kamuanga @eddy.kamuanga Born in 1991, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo Kamuanga draws from the structural complexity of his hometown and revisits the traditional culture of the Mangbetu people. Referencing different forms of advertising and photography as well as traditional aesthetics, his paintings are an amalgam of complementary pop cultural forms, including music, fashion and dance. They offer an intelligent approach to popular culture by exposing the anxieties and joys of his contemporaries. #supportblackart #olajuartgroup #eddykamuanga #art #blackart #mangbetu #aesthetics #artnerd #artofvisuals #artstagram #artlovers #blackartist #diaspora #africanart #africanamazing #congo #drc #congoleseart #blkcreatives
Reposted from @ycfnow - #WEARECONGOCREATIVES | ART | Zemba Luzamba | Metamorphoses, 2019, Oil on Canvas | __ __ Born in 1973 in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa. Zemba Luzamba's eloquent oil paintings of everyday life encourage viewers to draw their own conclusions. Focussed on rendering scenes that depict the leisure activities of the black middle classes as well as the hardships experienced by migrants, Luzamba recreates scenes of crowded residences, border crossings, and profiles of exhausted workers and students. Inspired by photographs he’s taken and sketches he’s made over the years, Luzamba’s work stops just short of overt commentary. He provides lifelike accounts of ordinary subjects, allowing the viewer to draw their own conclusions. | Source: www.designindaba.com | __ #ycfnow #gentlemenofcongo #congoart #congoleseart @i_Lex_Project - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/Byu68vAB-81/?igshid=1fq0kw62y36vt
