Add about 10 more years and that's me. I've taken to the block button and it's been mostly lovely, lol.

The block button has definitely been one of my best friend’s over the last year or so. I don’t even hesitate to block people anymore. Disrupting my dashboard/scrolling with your unsavory/mean/hurtful/tiring comments? Blocked. Easy as that. My number one recommendation for all Tired Tumblr Users lol.

It’s exhausting. All these 14yos tryna go all social justice warriors on ships. I’m not that old yet but I’m tired.

It’s just really annoying/upsetting that for some reason these kids (and sometimes adults, though from my experience in the Riverdale fandom, it’s mainly those less than 18-20) don’t seem to realize that yes, social justice has it’s place but there is a fine, fine line between voicing your opinions in a respectful manner and bashing another ship/shippers. It’s okay to disagree with things a show does, it’s okay to not like a ship, IT IS OKAY TO BE DISAPPOINTED. But just...is it so hard to scroll past or ignore a ship you don’t like? Damn, I’m salty about this stuff lol.

I am older than you but much newer to Tumblr, and I completely agree. It is strange to see all these young people taking fiction so seriously that they are willing to bully, mock, and harass real people over the rights of imaginary characters. It is scary that non-existent people and non-existent relationships are such a huge part of their lives.

My thing is, tumblr has always been a bit of escapism from the rest of the world. The world is hard and it sucks and tumblr is supposed to be a place where I can come and think about my favorite shows/characters for a while before having to check back in. But I agree, some of these younger kids (and yes, even some people into their 20s) take it way too far. At the end of the day, these are not real characters, but the people who are being attacked and getting hateful messages are very real. 

Seriously If you dislike a show so much, move on, y’know?

I feel the same way, don't worry! And I feel like quite a few people involved in these ship wars are around the same age as us unfortunately.

I would like to think that any self-respecting adult has the common sense to not pick fights over a damned tv show, but my surprise would be very, very low if that was the case.

Nope, not just you. I'm a bit older than the average Tumblr user too and this war is driving me insane.

It gets old, quick. I understand disagreeing with a show. I understand not liking a ship. I even understanding being disappointed with how the show is handling a topic/character/ship. What I do not understand is purposely hating or bashing character/ship A simply because you support ship B (and this is coming from someone who, especially in Riverdale, multiships like whoa). AND MOST IMPORTANTLY I DO NOT UNDERSTAND SENDING MEAN/HATEFUL MESSAGES TO OTHER USERS OR, GOD FORBID, ACTORS, BECAUSE OF A DAMN FICTIONAL RELATIONSHIP. 

I swear I left high school years ago lol.
