My favorite part to draw

a few notes (please let me know if you have any suggestions!):

-i have never written a fanfiction before, so please go easy on me

-the pov will switch between soap and ghost/simon

-instead of… france…, this will be taking place in the “scottie highlands”

-this will NOT be historically (or likely regionally) accurate, although neither are the disney versions. i mean, why would a guy from manchester live in a castle in scotland?

-soap is a trans man and bi; don’t ask me how he transitioned— i don’t know the answer to that lol

-he tried to join the army at 16 before he transitioned and they rejected him. that put a bad taste in his mouth so he decided to focus on art instead

-i think most people also headcanon that soap’s dad is dead, so instead, he rescues his ma from the beast’s ghost’s castle

-similar to the original book, soap has two older sisters that are jealous of and mean to him

-the town does not know that soap is trans; they’re just weirded out that a young man wants to be an artist and not join the military

-soap’s callsign doesn’t exist; he only goes by john(/johnny by ghost)

-there is an age gap between soap and ghost; soap is 22 and ghost is 34 (which i think is likely similar to their age gap in the main story?)

-ghost’s backstory will be similar to his original 2009 backstory other than the fact that he’s, well, a prince and some things will have to be changed a little bit to fit the barely existing historical accuracy

-ghost’s “beast form” is more like a wraith rather than a hairy beast. i feel like that just matches his character better. it also explains why he’s called the ghost

-inspired by Got Your Six by @sociablepossum, ghost has a form of DID, with the ghost being a protector and simon only really fronting when he feels safe/able to be vulnerable.

-after his near-death experience, simon only fronted a few times— even fewer times after his family died. after the fairy turned him into the beast, simon has not fronted at all

-i want to make it clear that soap loves both ghost and simon equally.

-price and gaz served as guards for simon’s family— that’s why they’re in the castle now

-price is basically cogsworth and gaz is lumière

-price is like a father figure to simon and is the only one in the castle that knows about his DID

-gaz and price have a father/son relationship— i haven’t decided if they’re actually related or not yet

-i don’t know who/what laswell’s character would be— any recommendations are appreciated

-graves is gaston, but since i feel that there is no romantic chemistry between the two at all, graves is soap’s childhood friend who is trying to convince soap to join the army now that he’s transitioned— due to soap’s experience, he doesn’t want to and would rather focus on art nowadays.

-graves will betray soap in a similar way to the “enemy at the gate” scene, except that he is hunting for the beast ghost rather than taking over alejandro’s base

-no, i don’t know why an american is in “18th century” “scotland…” just don’t think about it too hard

-soap will be injured in a similar way to las almas while trying to make it back to ghost (but he’ll be okay, don’t worry <3)

-general shepard isn’t specifically named— he will only be referred to as “the general” (i.e., “the general sends his regards…”)

-i’ll probably expand upon the characters more if i actually end up writing the au

-soft romance, but no smut (sorry, no monster frigging here </3)

-again, as much as i love history, this is fantasy BASED on history and will NOT be historically accurate at all

swan lake (prob a mix of barbie, the ballet [without the sad ending], and the swan princess [but with better writing])

cinderella (disney, 1950—maybe also inspired by the ella enchanted *book* [noting the book specifically bc the movie sucked ass])

12 dancing princesses (barbie)

sleeping beauty (disney, 1959)

anastasia (obviously will NOT take place in russia; mostly just inspired by the idea of a lost royal w/ a sad background/a country under a violent revolution—might include elements from the musical [i.e gleb instead of rasputin bc im not touching that])

the ugly princess (book by henderson smith; 5th grade me loved this book)

winter holiday/christmas themed

the nutcracker (probably inspired by both the ballet and the barbie movie)
