I feel exhausted. I’ve just realised I’ve been clinching my jaw for probably days -  well at least the past 8hrs.

What a day - what a sporting day.

I love sport, I’ll almost watch anything (except cricket!) but major competitions/tournaments especially Tennis are my thing - so need I say anymore, it was a bad day for me.

Roger Federer goes out of Wimbledon and then England lose against Croatia, in a world cup where nearly all the other big guns were out.

I can’t help but think that this was such a lost opportunity for possibly the most open route to the final...  Gareth Southgate said it was all about 2022 but you can’t plan these things - you have to be life ready and take your opportunities when they come. I’m sure we’ll be talking about this for weeks to come.

Well it’s over now, but what will I do with myself?

For the last few weeks I’ve watched all the tennis tournaments leading up to Wimbledon and have thoroughly enjoyed the build to the world cup - it’s added something else to my day, a welcomed distraction from my own ambitions and goals (getting the kids to bed on time is a major accomplishment! a hi five moment, let me tell you!) as for a brief moment all my thoughts, energy and focus has been on geeing up others and willing and encouraging them in pursuit of their goals. I know that’s sort of a long winded way to say I’ve been supporting England and Roger Federer (did I say I’m a massive fan of Roger Federer and tennis? lol) but naturally I had to think deeper about what these events do to us to get us so involved and lift our spirits and hope and all the wonderful emotions that come from competitions.

It made me think about how it was a welcome distraction from my own goals. It was so much fun to watch someone else’s efforts, talent, grace (Roger that is - I LOOOVE HIM lol) or the England team play slick football in a team that included so many young black and mixed race men, representing their country and themselves in an exceptional fashion - it made me feel quite proud.

However alas, it’s all come to what feels like a abrupt end, I was really enjoying the ride and looking forward to a few more days of euphoric joy and escapism (lets face it, that’s what it is). But it wasn’t to be.

Fortunately for me getting back to my reality isn’t that bad.
