This is one of the most avant-garde garments I've ever seen CL wore. I recognized it right away, since this Comme Des Garcons was one of the stand out collections of the Fall fashion season; I've been wanting to post about, but never got around it. Anyways, when I saw the collection, I was so amazed. First of all, Rei Kawakubo has always been an avant garde designer, but this collection is something I haven't seen before -even from her. Like most people, I thought every single look was absolutely ridiculous: the volume and color were all mind boggling. I was overwhelmed to say the least. However, I did not expect it to get as many editorial features as it did; magazines such as Vogue and V have all featured this collection in their magazine -Vogue Nippon even put it on the cover! Even though some people think that this collection is just absolutely ridiculous, I love the fearlessness that Kawakubo has when it comes to her design. She proves that luxury is not something you display for other people, it's something personal and private.
CL has proven that this collection is street-friendly. It's wouldn't be the first coat that I would personally choose to wear when on a plane. It's a good thing that she wore this coat to balance out her outfit, because the knee high boots with those shorts can read a little ...dare I say slutty?...but the coat adds that quirky quality that balances out the sex appeal of the outfit.
I know that YG artists wear Commes Des Garcons a lot, but I wouldn't expect any of them to tap into this particular collection. This just goes to show that when it comes to style, YG artists are unexpected to say the least.
