Yeah basically 😭😭

Even when the construction of Octopia was well under way, there was a large number of Octarians that still didn't trust Four to be a sufficient leader (like Millicent, Sea, Sky, Olympia and Odelia). So, under the guidance of the last scientist left underground who is someone I haven't actually created yet , she agreed to have a boss tentacle implanted in her back.

This was supposed to be an extreme show of loyalty and commitment - at this point, she had made up her mind that she would never return to the surface ever again, so she wouldn't have to worry about being feeling like a monster or abomination. Or so she thought

The surgery was successful, everyone was won over, and now Four is significantly stronger! Cool!

Except it takes a while for her to adjust to the feeling of having a semi-sentient organism connected to her and constantly twitching, grabbing, convulsing etc. plus even though the Octarians all accept her, she still struggles with thinking that she's an atrocity and wonders whether she can even still be classified as an Inkling anymore. So you know. Fun stuff :)

Anyway the tentacle doesn't have a mind of it's own but it is autonomous and usually either reflects or influences Four's emotions! Here's a handy chart to show how:

Been thinking a lot recently about the relationship dynamic between Four, Felicia and Millicent (I think it's one of the most interesting ones for Octopia!! I am biased because I created them all lol)

Because Felicia and Millicent were childhood best friends, and stuck together in the underground despite so many Octolings deserting to the surface, they're very close, but haven't been able to spend time together recently due to both of them having high ranking jobs in Octopia.

But now Felicia has another person in their life that brings happiness and light in the dark of the domes - Four. They're ready to protect her no matter what, and Four has equally deep feelings in return.

So of course, upon hearing how close they are with Millicent, Four gets a little jealous. She wants to dislike this Octoling so badly, especially because she was one of the main voices of opposition when Four first arrived in Octopia, but Millicent is such an amazing leader of the Scavenger Team that she just can't. They're in meetings together a lot of the time, so like it or not they see each other a lot more than Felicia gets to see her old pal Mills.

(Bonus detail: Millicent only allows Felicia to call her Mills. And no one is EVER allowed to call her Milly)

This is such a monumental occasion, as this is literally the first piece of fanfiction I have ever written, and to see that it's become this successful makes me unbelievably happy.

Writing the chapters, coming up with all the lore and worldbuilding, drawing the characters... it all brings me so much joy, and I know that this really is just the beginning - I have so many plans for the future of this fic and even beyond that!

So thank you all so much for giving this story a chance to thrive. The support I've gotten so far is indispensable and greatly appreciated - @nipotazzi especially, you've been with me since the start and you've made the story so much better, from your fabulous editing skills to your inventive ideas. From the bottom of my heart - thank you!

This is so good!!! I'm!!! So happy!!!!!!!!

The colours are amazing, the pose is perfect, and the tentacle is GORGEOUS!! Sometimes I still struggle with drawing it but you've mastered it already!

I can't believe how quickly this whole thing grown!! To think that only 6 months ago I was celebrating 1000 hits... and now there's only two chapters left to write. I am so incredibly happy that it's been received so well, and I can't wait to continue on with this story next year :D

SO DID CALLIE AND PEARL!!! It happened exactly how I imagined it well, with Callie initially confessing her love and Pearl being the one to propose. I can't wait to make Rose when they have a baby :3

I'm so happy, that's two of my OTPs married already... all before my parent's miis are even together yet lol

I also made Four and Felicia!! I'm REALLY happy with how Four turned out, and I struggled a bit with Felicia on the hair but I think they look pretty good too. They're the only WTO characters I'll add probably, cuz I just have too many... 🥲 (I still love them all tho obviously!!)

So in character already... I love this game so much vbgfsgsufusgfd

Plus I'm starting to make my other Splat OCs too! Princess looks good but I'm amazed at how great Ferret looks!!!
