Hey this is a continuation of the fic âAfter the Fallâ written by @puppyloulou20 based on my fics âThe Feeling of Fallingâ and âThe Feeling of Watchingâ based on this comic by @chokingonoreos with the characters by @linkeduniverse. @puppyloulou20 and I are doing a series of continuations for âAfter the Fallâ with all of the different Links together so stay tuned if you want to read them all(links to any prequels and sequels I will include at the bottom as they are written).
The next time he woke up the sky was dark; edged in the barest twinges of orange. A large weight depressed the straw mattress he was laying on, and warm fur tickled his arm. Wild rolled his eyes to the left and was greeted by a familiar sight from when heâd jolt awake from a nightmare without any memory to show for it to see Twilightâs furry wolf muzzle nudging him awake.
This time the wolf obviously hadnât woken him, as when Wild moved to sit up Twilight placed a paw on his chest in a simple but firm denial. With nothing else to do and no point in protesting Wild sunk back down to the bed.
He shifted slightly and sighed before turning his gaze to Twilight again.
âGo ahead,â he murmured barely a sound leaving his lips, âno doubt youâve been waiting to lecture me all day.â
Twilight huffed and narrowed his eyes the orange bleeding through the window making the crystal blue orbs look like a sea wreathed in flame, âThat was stupid.â
Wild twisted his head towards Twilight, his face twisted into a light glare, and cocked an eyebrow, âWhat was I supposed to do, let him fall?â
No words were spoken, but the simple gestures and expressions were all they needed.
A displeased rumble echoed from Twilightâs chest; the subtle vibrations buzzing against Wildâs arm where it pressed into Twilightâs fur, âThatâs not what I said.â
He bumped his snout against Wildâs cheek, âJust find a safer way to save him than jumping off the cliff after him next time.â
Wild offered a careless half-shrug, âI came away fine.â
Twilight stared back and didnât move for the next few seconds; it wasnât intended to send a message but it did anyway, âThere are so many things I could say to that and you wouldnât like a single one of them.â
Then he settled on what he wanted to say and tilted his head to the side, âA miracle I still donât understand.â
Wild tensed and looked away. He bit his lip and absentmindedly ran a hand through the thick fur on Twilightâs back as he thought.
Twilight watched his protĂ©gĂ© silently for a few seconds then let out an exasperated huff. He lowered his head and nudged Wildâs arm then playfully nipped at his ear when Wild turned back to him, âFine, donât tell me.â
Wildâs muscles uncoiled and  he breathed a sigh of relief.
Twilight rolled his eyes and rested his head atop his paws and let his eyes drift shut.
Wild laid still and silent until he felt certain Twilight was asleep then moved to get out of bed again. As soon as he reached a sitting position he heard a low growl and froze like a small child caught stealing sweets. Wildâs shoulders sunk and he slowly turned his head to look at Twilight. The wolf hadnât moved; his head still lay on his paws but one eye was open and glaring at Wild, âDonât even think about it.â
It was Wildâs turn to roll his eyes at his companion, but nonetheless he laid back down and closed his eyes unconsciously resting an arm on Twilightâs back. Wildâs breathing evened out and Twilight opened his other eye keeping careful vigil over the much-older-than-he-looked teenager who for the second time, as far as he knew, should have been dead.
