Good evening, my scintillating sirens, and welcome back to Makeup Monday! So, come with me on a strange journey - a journey I never thought I'd take - the journey to wear a unibrow. For those of you who don't watch RuPaul's Drag Race, a fantastic, fierce punk+avant garde+haute couture drag queen named Sasha Velour swept the series like the total magical bitch queen that she is, and one of the pieces of her trademark look is her exquisite unibrow. It's so striking and says so much about our culture's concepts and standards of beauty (and so much more,) I was inspired to try that feature out for myself. Plus I wanted to work with some of the colors I've seen her wear, which definitely fall on the brighter end of the color palette (i.e. pretty much half of the makeup that I own,) and this amazing lip whip from Beauty Bakerie. Creating a look to incorporate all that was a challenge! All right, so as a first attempt... it's on the high end of ok. The unibrow is more of a tuft than the clean lined sculptural piece I wanted, but my hand slipped and my brush blobbed and this was the fix. I like the surrounding eye look, however. It could use a little darker pink in the outer corners, I see that now. But I'd set myself a goal to use as few palettes as possible, and I did a pretty good job: I only used three! And only one single eyeshadow! Which is astounding, given how many products I've been using per look lately. I do think I nailed the purple brows, though. And I am seriously digging the blue lips, and the glitter topcoat is supercool. Could have used more glitter in the rest of the look, though. I'm giving myself a B+. There's always room to grow, isn't there?
