The Itch
It has been over a year since my first/last post! Wow, I really did want to get started didn't I? So, today I am back. Since my last/first post. Since then, I found out I was pregnant, and I guess the fact took over me, in every way. Since then, I survived a pregnancy with complications, almost went crazy, and considered cutting my feet off. Seriously, the only reason I didn't was because I came to the conclusion that life with a child must be hard enough and it might be easier with feet. Me, moody, but laid back, "breathing" me, zen but with the occasional attitude me, really thought of doing it. Why??? One wonders. Well, long story short, at 24 weeks pregnant I was diagnosed with Obstetric Colestasis, and a very serious case of it. Yes, it basically means my liver reacted BADLY to "the hormones". Like it wasn't enough "the hormones" and what they were doing to my body. The nausea, the tears, the ups and downs, I really didn't need an itch. But this wasn't "the normal" itch one can get during pregnancy, the light itch that "they" said was ok. The itch was ALL OVER, it started one night and never stopped, ALL OVER, non stop. It was CRAZY, it was driving me and everyone around me crazy. I couldn't sleep, my boyfriend at the time, (somehow now turned husband couldn't sleep), and I worried the baby inside me also couldn't sleep.( I was also told that we would have to get my baby out before because one of the few worries of this condition is that your baby could be born dead, yeah and that stress also makes everything worse). Um hum...I think the only parts that did not itch were my nails, my eyeballs, and my teeth. Yes, and all those parts one never really mentions or much less like to be seen scratching them. So, I had to stop my life, stop working, eventually stop socializing, get depressed, stop my life because of the itch. So, thanks to a very good team of doctors/specialists(which I will forever be grateful for), my dear family and amazing boyfriend/now husband, close monitoring and medication for the rest of my pregnancy, It all did go away, and I have a beautiful, and healthy baby boy, and it couldn't be more rewarding. So, if you every find yourself pregnant, with something a little more than a light itch, please check it out.
