Ok, so I’m going to call this done... I’ve just spent the last hour and a half looking at it, scanning the surface, making judgement calls about the shapes of rocks, the subtle colour of reeds, that extraordinary orangery pop at the top/in the middle. I’ve come to the conclusion that I could tinker with it endlessly, but I’m not sure any of it would change the painting’s character.
