I was tagged by @keeping-writing-frosty to share seven lines from my WIPs, so I'll split it down the middle (as middle as possible, I guess?) and share three lines from Cold Circuit and four lines from my untitled Carcosan story:
Untitled Carcosan Story:
You turn your attention to the Kaza once more, watching as she angles her ancient bow in a northern direction, and her fingers tremble, her gaze focused on an obscured target beyond your line of sight. You see her lips move, once, twice, thrice. The Kaza shifts her stance, pointing the Cazadorâs arrowhead a few feet to her right. Her shoulders remain tense, her jaw set and her brows furrowed, she mutters to herself a few more times, her grip wavers, and the Kaza begins to hum.
Canta tel IruĂ, the Song of the Wrathful.
(Okay, sure, a bit more than four lines, but I adore this little snippet too much)
Cold Circuit:
Kaspar chuckles and rises to his feet. âYou have three days to make your decision, Sibyl. If you accept, meet me back here in three days with CelephaĂŻs, and, if you like, you may bring a third.â
Kaspar, despite his victory, places a final stone on the Go board.
âChoose wisely, Sibyl. A game like this has no winners.â
(I can't count, it seems, but this chapter is one of my personal favorites in the second draft, so I'm keeping it here)
I'm gonna tag @burned-ambitions and anyone else who wishes to participate!

Before my Carcosan novel, I finished the first draft of a cyberpunk novel called Cold Circuit (the first book in a trilogy) and I was a third of the way through the second draft before I shifted gears and started writing the aforementioned Carcosan novel.
Next month (September) marks a year since I started writing this novel, and I figured I should lock in and spend the next thirteen months writing the second draft of Cold Circuit.
Now, I've no idea if anybody would be interested in it (seeing as I've less than fifty followers here) but if you are, you're free to browse the Cold Circuit tag to get an idea of what the story is about (and maybe it's time for some proper character introductions, too!)
The Versailles isâŚloud, reeks of sweat, alcohol, and ignorance.
âIâm in,â Cellâs voice crackles through my lewis signal, and they chuckle, âalways wanted to say that, makes me feel like the main character of a cyberpunk story or somethinâ.â
âYou canât be a cyberpunk main character,â Wrusty answers, âtoo caring for your own good. Iâll survive, though.â
âAnd what makes you think youâre worthy of being the protagonist, Aphrodite?â I tease aloud, âdâyou think peopleâd even care âbout your career as a prosthetician?â
âIâd make a better protag than you, Janus,â Wrusty defends, âthat much is certain. Youâre too stuffy to be likeable.â
âNot here to be likeable. Here to ensure that you donâtââ
My shoulder bumps into an older manâs chest.
âI apologize, I was justââ
A left hand clasps my shoulder, and I freeze.
Thereâs an emerald ring on his finger
âJanus, you there? Yelena interrupts, âJanus, come in, Janus.â
Yelena, you might want to shut the operation down.
I haven't posted a Cold Circuit excerpt in a while (honestly I'm unsure if anyone's interested. Maybe I just need to post more) but this tongue-in-cheek joke in the middle of a heist is one of my favorite bits of writing. I am a genius.
