Colette has a hard time getting close to people because of the way her mother abandoned her when she was a child. Once she’s attached to someone, however, she won’t walk away, even when she should. She’s stubbornly loyal even if that loyalty is going to get her killed (which it almost has on a couple of occasions).

After she was disowned, Colette considered removing the sigil at the back of her neck. The only reason she didn’t was because it connected her to all of her family, not just her grandmother.

Growing up in the city was not the best for cultivating Colette’s affinity. With so many people and buildings so close together, it made it difficult to see just what she could. Getting out to Nevada and having the space to really work with wind has grown her abilities greatly.

Colette actually did go to her grandmother’s funeral using charms Cord gave her to hide who she was. She just needed to make sure the mean old bitch was really dead.

One of the reasons Colette stuck with looking into darker magic is that she just flat out likes how it feels. That part scares her, but not enough to stop. It does give her a better insight on why her aunt and uncle were so easily led down that path, even if her initial reasons for going that route were extremely different.
