1. What is the best sandwich?

One with twaróg (white cheese), radishes, and chives. A classic Polish spring spread.

2. What’s one thing you own that you really should throw out?

All the old promo materials I gather during my travels. No, I probably don't need 20 maps of a city I visited 15 years ago.

3. What is the scariest animal?

I saw people here say human, which is a valid choice. I also am not very fond of snakes.

4. Apples or oranges?

Neither, but if I have to choose, probably apples.

5. Have you ever asked someone for their autograph?

Yeah, a couple of times, in my more active concert-going days.

6. What do you think happens when we die?

I don't know, and I don't really care, but I'd like to be surprised.

7. Favourite smell

The air just before the storm.

8. Least favourite smell

Gasoline.

9. Favourite action movie

I'm a normie, and it's Mad Max: Fury Road

1. What is the best sandwich?

There are so many great options, but I will always go to my favorite ones when I think of the best sandwich: Bánh Mì & Bokit!

(The Bánh Mì was from a very small street vendor when I was in Vietnam and I'm still trying to find someone in my country who make the same one because it was quite special. As for the Bokit, unfortunately I didn't have a picture so I just took one from internet)

2. What’s one thing you own that you really should throw out?

I have so many old devices that don't work anymore that I really should throw them out. I just hate going to the tip. I ought to do it on my next holidays because I live in a small place and they take too much space I could need to store all my books.

3. What is the scariest animal?

I don't know which one to choose between Goose and Goat and I have to admit it's because I was chased by both when I was a child. They still scare me today.

5. Have you ever asked someone for their autograph?

I did it once, almost 10 years ago. It was at a book fair and there was this incredibly talented Chinese artist, Benjamin, who made graphic novels. Unfortunately, I lost the book where he signed.

I sometimes wonder if he is still doing art. I used to have a giant poster of him in my bathroom.

6. What do you think happens when we die?

Probably nothing.

7. Favourite smell

Anything with vanilla. I don't have a great sense of smell as I lost most of it. However, vanilla has always been a comforting smell to me.

8. Least favourite smell

Probably the smell of bleach and whatever smell is coming from a sewage treatment. You would think that for someone who doesn't have a great sense of smell I would be free from these smells, but unfortunately that's not the case.

9. Favourite action movie

I would say A Good Day to Die Hard or Equalizer. I don't really have a favourite one, but I enjoy watching them.

10. You get one song to listen to for the rest of your life—what is it?

It was the hardest question to me, but I eventually chose In The End by Linkin Park. (You have to know that I hesitated with MMMbop by The Hanson and Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls)

1. What is the best sandwich?

It's hard to pick a favorite, but definitely something warm. I made myself a really good fried egg sandwich with pesto and sauteed greens on toasted sourdough bread last night, so let's go with that.

2. What's one thing you own that you really should throw out?

My inner critic.

3. What is the scariest animal?

Hmm, again hard to pick. I think there's so many animals that just have bad PR. Maybe a moose, because my friends and I encountered one in Alaska once, and it started running, and we started running, and I can still hear the loudness and weight of those hoofbeats. (It wasn't aiming for us, we were all just a bunch of dumb animals stressing each other out).

(Unrelated - why do we say hoofbeats and not hoofsteps?)

4. Apples or oranges?

Oranges. I'm allergic to raw apples, so I like them, but they're more work to eat.

5. Have you ever asked someone for their autograph?

No. The only times I've run into famous people have been while I've been working, so it never felt appropriate. Plus I hate to feel like I'm being a bother, so it would have to happen super organically for me to feel non-invasive about it.

6. What do you think happens when we die?

With the knowledge that humans only understand the smallest fraction about life, the universe, and everything, and that there are multitudes beyond our ability to conceptualize, with my tiny human brain I think that our energy dissipates back into the world around us. I hope there's peace with that.

Vanilla

8. Least favourite smell?

Formaldehyde. The worst part of studying biology was the dissection stuff.

9. Favourite action movie?

Mad Max: Fury Road

10. You get one song to listen to for the rest of your life-what is it?

This is one where you'd probably get a different answer out of me every time, but for today - let's say Fuckin' Perfect by P!nk.

1. What is the best sandwich?

I have 2 faves! I’m from New York, so it’s gotta be a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel with salt, pepper, and ketchup 😋 but I also love chicken pesto paninis with arugula, tomato and mozzarella cheese 🤤

2. What's one thing you own that you really should throw out?

I really like blind box-style toys so I have a bunch of little figures and stuff. I could do without a few of those 😅

3. What is the scariest animal?

Dinosaurs and whales (and any other big animal like them tbh). Just thinking of the sheer size of those giants and what it would feel like to be next to one of them 😧 it’s crazy to think about!

4. Apples or oranges?

I like both but I eat apples more frequently. And I enjoy getting candy apples during fall festival season 😋

5. Have you ever asked someone for their autograph?

I’ve been to fansigns and fanmeets where you’re supposed to get an autograph, but I’ve also done the thing where people wait outside after a Broadway show to get the actors’ autographs on their playbills and talk to them a bit.

6. What do you think happens when we die?

I consider myself Catholic and I like to believe in Heaven, but I also think reincarnation would be cool. Maybe something like you reincarnate until you have achieved your ultimate goal and then you go to Heaven 😊🤷🏽‍♀️

7. Favourite smell?

Chocolate, babies, “grandma” perfume

8. Least favourite smell?

A very strong cheese or butter/lard smell will make me gag 🤢

9. Favourite action movie?

I’m bad at watching movies, I’ve seen mostly kids films 😅 but I’ll say either the original X-Men trilogy or The Incredibles if either of those count 😬

Oooh, wait! TMI but Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle was my sexual awakening so maybe that 😂😳🫣

10. You get one song to listen to for the rest of your life-what is it?

The problem with this is that it could just make me hate the song if I play it too much. Do I pick something relaxing and grounding? Or something uplifting and joyful? Or something emotional and cathartic? I have so many favorite songs, but right now I’m gonna say Canto Della Terra by Andrea Bocelli. It’s relaxing but emotional. I can fall asleep to it or I can cry to it, I can have both feelings.

1. What is the best sandwich?

As long as it's gluten-free bread the sandwich in front of me is the best sandwich... (I don't get to indulge very often 😟). But hush... just between you and me, it's a toss-up between a condensed milk sandwich (with so much condensed milk it drips all over the place, YUMMM) or a Malaysian bak kwa sandwich with the bread heavily-buttered (DOUBLE YUMMM).

2. What’s one thing you own that you really should throw out?

An entire closetful of clothes I no longer wear (for various reasons). I'm very much a hoarder.

3. What is the scariest animal?

BIRDS (up close). Creepy theropod dinosaurs.

4. Apples or oranges?

Oranges, especially since they can now scan them and tell you which ones are high Brix. And especially those little teeny mandarins that seem to spring up every Lunar New Year.

5. Have you ever asked someone for their autograph?

Yes, it was some random German soccer player. 🤣

6. What do you think happens when we die?

Oh I do believe in the afterlife.

At this moment, it's tea roses (thinking of Gaysorn and Scent in Flower Boy). 😆💖

Urgh. Body odor and bad breath.

I like so many! But the two I can't forget are The Long Kiss Goodnight starring a kick-ass Geena Davis (even though it didn't do that well at the box-office) and La Totale (the original that they based the Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis vehicle True Lies on, which I also enjoyed).

10. You get one song to listen to for the rest of your life—what is it?

Hmmm. Something retro I think. Maybe Summer Breeze by Seals and Croft? Or Ventura Highway by America? If it's going to be on endless repeat I need something soothing and easy on the ear....

I love bánh mì. So tasty and flavorful!

2. What’s one thing you own that you really should throw out?

Clothes that have been sitting in my "To Donate" box for nearly a year.

3. What is the scariest animal?

I was helping a friend out on their farm, and a goat just had babies. They're adorable, but the mama goat's sister tried to attack them, so I got banged up quite badly trying to protect the little ones. Here's the cutie my legs got massacred trying to save:

No pictures of the killer auntie goat, because she'd rather murder me than pose.

Apples for laziness reasons.

I went to a book signing for David Sedaris about a decade ago.

I'm not too worried about the inevitable. I'd rather focus on making the life I live worthwhile.

I love a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich on either a salt bagel or an onion bagel.

Clothes that don't fit anymore. 😬

Mountain lion (my head is on a swivel when I'm hiking in the maintains).

Apples (as long as it's not red delicious).

I used to work at Denver Comic Con (when we were allowed to call it that), and I had tons of autographs from those awesome folks. Ask me about your favorite sci-fi, horror, and fantasy actors. I may have met them.

I don't think we can every really know. I just hope whatever it is it's peaceful. We all deserve some fucking peace.

7. Favourite smell?

Vanilla bourbon.

8. Least favourite smell?

Skunks. If you've been close to a dog that got skunked, it's almost unbearably strong. This is such a hillbilly answer. Lol.

1. What is the best sandwich?

I mean... there are endless choices? So let's go with the two that I can just Say. I love the roast beef sandwich from Jimmy John's with their new horseradish cream and crispy onions. (But I also eat an uncrustable for lunch every day. Because I am simple and it's almost the end of the school year.)

2. What’s one thing you own that you really should throw out?

A set of HP gems that sit over my main window. I just don't have anything to replace them with and I like the colorful pop... and they're far enough away that no one can really tell what they are. I also bought them secondhand more than twenty years. They're not coming on my next move.

3. What is the scariest animal?

Depends on the circumstances? A poorly socialized hamster that you have to pick up is terrifying.

4. Apples or oranges?

Oranges. But like... really it's grapefruits or pineapple. The only apple I'll eat is a granny smith.

5. Have you ever asked someone for their autograph?

Outside of the context of them actually signing autographs at the time? Once. But he was a guest at the con and I randomly spotted him after a panel. He was Duo's English voice actor in Gundam Wing and he was DEEPLY amused by the art I showed him.

6. What do you think happens when we die?

I don't think about this. Leave me out of the discussion.

7. Favorite smell

Anything citrus. I adore citrus scents. Any of them but the brighter the better.

8. Least favorite smell

Besides like the basics like... poop and BO? I don't like super fake sweet smells and I can get overwhelmed with florals fairly easily.

*stares blankly into the distance* Uhhhhh. Man, what was the last action movie I even watched? Does Paranorman count?
