"There is no reason to-"

To cause such a commotion, he'd say, if he was ever allowed to finish a sentence around here. Khelani was leaning against a half-full bath, glaring at him, and Rochelle was standing over the tap, watching the water fill their murder weapon of choice.

"There absolutely is," Khelani replies with the tone that meant she can't be convinced anymore. "The ends of your hair look crusty."

Which, not true. He'd notice if they were. They'd drag and collect twigs and be generally unpleasant. But he knows better than to argue with a dead-set Khelani. Rochelle gave him a singular look of understanding before turning back to the bath. Coilean sighed. He reached for the top of his robe.

"Not so fast. Just your hair will do. For now," the threat of a full bath enforced on him was plain as day and Coilean really considered just running off into the woods for a week. But then the bath would be even worse. There's no winning here, is there?

Rochelle closed the tap and pointed to a spot on the floor. "Sit down here and drop your hair into the water. We'll take it from there."

"I can wash my own ha-" Thaaaat's another glare. He complied, pulling his mass of hair up, only to drop it into the water. He sat down, his back pressed against the bath.

"The water immediately turned brown," Khelani scowled.

"No it didn't," Coilean replied.

"How do you know? You can't see it."

"I wash my hair often enough so it doesn't get to that point."

"What about that one time we had to drag you out of the woods?" Rochelle decided to betray him. The audacity... he threw her a truly hurt look, to which she just smiled slightly, before leaning down and pouring shampoo into her hand.

"That doesn't count."

"Yes it does. Now shut up, I need to focus," Khelani certainly did not need to focus while washing hair, but he didn't want to be yanked today.

"Can I at least wash the hair on the top of my head alone?"

It's a scratch.

It truly is. He has sustained wounds far worse, many times, over and over and over. The scars speak of that. His gaze speaks of that.

So it makes little sense that someone would try to help. Absurdity. Can they not see he is managing? Can they not see his teeth? Can they not see his fangs?

She sits besides him and bandages his arm. The beast one. The clawed one. A monster ripped into it, leaving a gnash behind. It'll heal, of course. She sits there and bandages him.

She's about his age. Which is strange, not many people their age are among those allowed in the court. Coilean is, because he is in debt to their ruler, and she considers him someone under her care. Then, what is this girl's reason?

"...you don't have to," he mutters out finally. He has not moved his arm.

"Lift your arm a little," she responds, and Coilean complies, allowing her easier access to the underside of it. "There we go."

She even ties a little bow on the bandaid. He finally moves his arm away from her. Almost scratches her leg. The arms still feels too large.

"You didn't have to," he updates his statement. She smiles. It does not reach her eyes.

"But I did it anyway," she pulls back a little, still with that strange smile. "It'd be nice if you mentioned it to the Enchantress..."

Ah. So that's what she's after. Well. No matter. A bleeding stopped is still a bleeding stopped, regardless of reasons why.

"...I'm Coilean," the words escape his mouth before he can truly rationalize why he's introducing himself to a girl out only for the favor of his guardian.

"I'm Khelani," she answers without missing a beat. "So?"

Coilean stares at her long. She doesn't falter. It's the first rule of dealing with beasts - never show weakness, and they'll respect you.

She's a little... too laid back for his taste. However, she's also not the worst to be around. As long as she doesn't try to drag him to one of her matches.

It's not uncommon for Khelani to just waltz into his personal space and decide that whatever she came up with is just what they're doing right now. Coilean didn't really have a problem with that most of the time anyway, so when Khelani put a whole make-up kit on the desk he was sitting by and firmly placed herself on his lap, he just raised his good brow.

"I'm going to make you look presentable," she announced, grabbing some torture devices from the kit. Mostly brushes. He wrapped his larger arm around her for stabilization's sake.

"I already look presentable," he argued. Khelani just held up some palette to the side of his face. The brief glare told him to not move, so he did not.

"I don't have a good foundation for a skin like yours. I'll have to make do with something inferior," ah yeah she just ignored him. That also happened. Now, Coilean knew jack shit about makeup, so he didn't know what she meant by all this, but he felt like being a little difficult.

"Won't that make me less presentable?"

Oh, there's the glare again! He grinned at her. Khelani rolled her eyes, setting the palette down and picking up some ominous tube instead.

"Close your eyes, don't open them until I tell you. Don't move a muscle on your face until I tell you. Covering all of your scars will take up so much foundation... why did you get so many of them, huh?"

Coilean, of course, did not respond, but smugly closed his eyes and kept his smirk.
