Nobel Prize-winning author JM Coetzee has refused to attend the 14th International Writers' Festival in Israel.

His decision came citing the "disproportionate genocide" carried out by Israel in Gaza since October 2023, and he added that these actions were being met with “enthusiastic support" from a majority of the Israeli public, according to reports.
