Louis stood up and dusted his hands off, and Mia could see his frown even through his mask. âDo we want to take a break here, and head back to the base? Come back once weâve rested?â Yakumoâs brows rose. âIf youâre the one suggesting that, thenâŚ.â âI know, I know,â he sighed, and shook his head. âBut Aiden clearly isnât alright, and this place has been difficult on all of us. I donât like the idea of turning back now, but I donât want to risk one of us turning to ash.â âIf we leave now, then the Lost weâve already defeated might reform before we come back,â Mia pointed out. Idly she brushed Aidenâs hair out with her fingers, and she could still feel flecks of dried blood against the long strands. Her own hair was greasy, dirty, and no better, and she desperately wanted a shower, but practicality had to come first. This wasnât her first foray into dangerous territory that held something she wanted, and creature comforts would be secondary until they were done. Louis frowned beneath his mask, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the larger platform that had held the berserk Lost that had almost taken all of them out. He glanced first at Yakumo, then at her, then finally at Aiden, and seemed to weigh his options. âItâs a valid concern,â he said finally, and sighed. âBut Iâd rather us be cautious than reckless. Any death here might take weeks to reform from, and weâre lower on supplies than Iâd like. Not to mention Aidenâs probably not feeling well â the vestige was one of his.â Miaâs brows rose, and she looked down at the sleeping revenant in a new light. No wonder heâd acted like he did, if it held a death of his. Some of her own deaths had been brutal, and she had no desire to relive the sequence of events that lead to them.Â
