Coding Errors

Knowledge is half the battle, something that Error has which Ink and Dream haven't realized yet.

After years of endless battle with Ink, Error had enough and realized that he needs to overcome his canon weakness as an error and abandon his reckless, rage-induced, and emotion-driven ways of doing things. Hence the reborn of the intelligent, manipulating and deceiving Error of the present.

One of his new abilities is the ability to change the reality of an event just like a coder and a hacker could, he would soon use this ability to hunt down the rest of the Out!Code coders and hackers to make sure they won't pose a threat to his vision.

Before the Truce, he used this power to empower his strings to be able to destroy multiple AUs at once, throw a planet into a star, and many more gigantic destruction all over the multiverse. After the Truce, he would use this power to gain even more knowledge of the remaining multiverse to aid in his vision of the future.

I honestly think he may have customized his own scripting language to avoid having anyone just hack into it. At least once he got enough practice with existing programming languages and got enough impulse control to not keysmash every other line.

It'd be more suitable to his programming needs and more secure against anyone trying to hack into his systems

So I was looking over the canon info for Error and it got me wondering- was there anything in particular that made Error go from impulsive and angry to cunning and manipulative? Was there any specific reason as to why he realized he needed to abandon his previously reckless ways?

His transformation was gradual, meaning he had once learned that maybe abusing his emotion for power is not the best way to win a fight over Ink who's at the time is a prankster (And actually still is), and because Ink knows Error is a knucklehead and a bit short circuited he was beaten many times due to his emotional damage.

And so as time goes on he started to learn to be more cunning, skillful, and mischievous from many places in the multiverse before he destroyed them. And once he has gotten to the coding powers, he started to become more and more in control of his power and emotion. He started to scheme things and won without having to use his powers, that's how he got to this point of Error in time.

He'd be having a lot of surprises to give in the future~

That does sound like something he may do, though he may exaggerate it a bit more to be extra spiteful. Especially to Ink, he's that much of a troll. Do keep in mind it depends on his knowledge of the code and skill in applying it though. He likely glitched himself several times when he was first practicing seriously.

His coding ability is weaker than Overwrite on the technicality that X-Gaster is a creator. Creators are the end all be all of Sagaverse, so this isn't inconsistent.

It does have different limitations as well. Error can only affect what he knows the code to. Like most programmers and hackers, his abilities are limited by knowledge and experience with the code. Be it a character, world, or timeline that has it, those are where his limits are.

Some data is harder to access than others, such as Dreamtale's code. This is due to its importance to the multiverse. Error did eventually crack at least a little of it, which is why he was able to make positivity arrows and hurt Nightmare badly.

I hope this clarifies a few things about Error's capabilities.

This was answered in a couple of asks, but I'll compile it here. Yes, he can shapeshift. If he has the code for it, he can turn into it. Coding an original form does take more work though. His default form can only be modified so much though. His eyesight can't be corrected this way as it was before he became an Error.

His design change in part 5 was an example of this. It was how he got a new jacket and the scarf.

Yes, he can. In fact, the positivity arrows from part 5 were one such example. Granted, he copied the ability, but he still did it. After battling and observing countless people for years, you learn to pick up new techniques eventually~

Given enough time, analysis, and some samples from them, he definitely can. Unlike the original canon, Sagaverse's guardians are specially coded for their roles. Dream and Nightmare have properties normal mortals lack.

Knowledge is power, as they say. Error's the prime example of this at the moment.
