clone dad was recovering from a recent concussion (was supposed to still be on whatever approximates to medical leave for clones but yknow. dutiful. didnt want to stay in bed while his brothers were out there fighting. horrible idea.) when The Whole Show Fell Apart and was only like... half subject (maybe more? less?) to the control chip. enough to definitely put some knights and padawans into the ground, not enough for him to see a kid who’d tucked herself away into a vent corner and be like “perish, jedi”
she was Not a fan of him, however, as she’d spent several adrenaline-soaked hours dodging clones and watching them execute others. as mixed as she’d felt about being conscripted into the jedi order (which for her was over a year ago, now), he was absolutely a threat and she absolutely tried to go at him with a training lightsaber as he held her up by the scruff of her neck like an angry kitten
seeing her and hearing her angrily (quietly, still afraid of other clones coming to see what was up) accuse him of things that he absolutely had done, the haze came off enough for him to be like. wait. the cognitive dissonance was too strong, so they cooked up a weird plan to get out of dodge - he tucked her back in the vents and hazily went along with whatever his brothers did for the next. half of a day? maybe more? filled with growing horror - finally got an opportunity to break away, found her already stashed away on the ship they agreed upon, and left with relatively few people noticing (at the time)
he immediately was sidelined by the fact that you should Not be active when you have a concussion, and nearly crashed the ship before she hauled his unconscious ass out of the seat and got them out into space proper - semi-freaking out about what to do, she eventually decided she’d have to return to her old feral urchin instincts and somehow get a medic to look at him, or steal some medical supplies.
Clone pile anon: now i'm picturing Anakin in his concerned voice saying, "Rex?" and then you just hear a muffled "Yes, General?" because everyone is clinging to Rex and he's at the bottom of the pile.
EHEHEHEhehehehehe and he’s a little sullen about it, but what’s he going to do? Tell them no? Plus he’s clone mom. Even though Shaak Ti is clone mom, Rex is also clone mom. And Cody is clone dad. Jango is the original clone dad, but ever since he was killed retired and started his own space farm in order to grow space carrots while raising Boba, Cody has taken up the mantle.

While I write Aay'Han I just keep getting headcanons of Kian as a dad with his little girl, and it's just too darn cute.
