The Queen Mother’s engagement ring
The Duke of York, later King George VI, gave Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (Queen Mother) a sapphire ring. The ring had diamond accents and was complemented by a Welsh gold wedding band. Eventually, she decided to swap out her engagement ring for a large pearl surrounded by diamonds.
n 1923, the royal wedding band was fashioned from a gift of Clogau gold, from a Welsh gold mine, with enough left over for the weddings of The Queen in 1947 as well as those of the late Princess Margaret, the Princess Royal and the 1981 marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.
The stock of the original Clogau gift is believed to be almost exhausted, having been replenished over the years with donations from several other Welsh mines.

KFR/520 Vintage Welsh 9ct Gold Ring. A fancy 2 colour 9ct gold ring hallmarked in Sheffield 1994 and with a Welsh Dragon. It has a yellow gold band with applied red gold decoration of swirls, leaves and foliage in a strong naturalistic Celtic design. The makers mark is CD in a pie shape, which I believe is the early mark of Clogau St. David. .
