Tell The Damn Story-Unplugged: Chris Interviews, Cyberpunk Author Carol Gyzander!

Here’s the second interview co-host Chris Ryan pursued and acquired while on his a solo mission to Deadly Ink Writer’s Conference in central New Jersey. While lurking and ferreting out creative intel, he also conversed with several other talented authors. So listen well as we roll out number two of 6, cyber and steam pun author, Carol Gyzander.

Bands that dress like droogs from A Clockwork Orange and generally play punk (that may or may not be similarly themed) on a spectrum that ranges from something that approaches poppy pub-rock to straight no-let-up street-punk. The first band to do this was The Adicts, who released two solid pop-punk albums in the early 80s with Sound of Music and Songs of Praise and are still chugging along, getting involved in petty scene drama with far superior bands. They've actually just released a new album, All the Young Droogs (IMAGINE A SLOW ZOOM TOWARDS THE WORD 'YOUNG' ON THE COVER AS A GURGLING LAUGH RISES IN PITCH AND VOLUME UNTIL IT TWISTS INTO A KEENING WAIL THAT ENVELOPS YOUR SOUL).

Other clockwork punk bands include Hat Trickers (not bad), The Devotchkas (not great), Major Accident (kinda bad), Lower Class Brats (yeah, pretty bad, that song Psycho is sort of undeniable though), and though they wouldn't be considered part of the subgenre, Cock Sparrer have a song called Droogs Don't Run.
